  1. Just curious. I always wonder if people are so wrapped up in themselves to even notice others, or if there is still people out there doing things for strangers.

For me it was maybe about 2 months or so ago. It was my wifes first day at her new job and I was extremely excited for her so I decided to get a sitter for the night and take her out for dinner. Now I absolutly hate seafood but it is her favourite so I took her out to a seafood restaurant. We were just having a drink and eating our appetizer when an older couple was seated beside us. Anyway, we heard the lady mention to the waitress that it was their 53rd wedding anniversary so naturally my wife and I said congradulations to them.

During the meal my wife and I started talking, and since something good had just happened to us (her getting a good job), that we would like to do something nice for someone else. Anyway, as we were leaving we grabbed their waitress and asked her to give us their bill..but to under no circumstances to tell them before we had left (we didn't want any uncomfortable reactions, and you never know..they may even have gotten pissed about it).

So we pay the bill, tip both servers, and start to head out the door when I notice the waitress talking to them. We got out the door and maybe two steps out into the parking lot when the lady caught up to us and she was crying and hugging us. It felt good to know we had given them some added joy on an important day but I really wanted to be out of there before they told them. Ah well.

Any other stories of doing random acts of kindness for strangers?
  2. ya I give all my clothes I don't wear much to my father-in-law's girlfriend who is a teacher, she gives them to her really tall students who can use them, she's told me it's really made them smile and how happy they are about it.

we also donate to animal rescue shelters, we donated quite a bit when there was a huge seige of over 100 animals found at a farm in Dekalb a few months back

a few months ago we saw a man rolling in the street on the other side of a 4 lane road so we stopped in the median and ran over, his head was all bloody, we couldn't figure out what happened, but we got him to the grass and he laid down, we called 911 and just when the cops get there, his son pulls up screaming "Why would you jump out of a moving car?!?!" It was pretty insane but we gave our interviews to the cops and he went off in an ambulance.
  3. When I was at Walter Reed out in DC I always went for a walk to get the strength in my legs back. There was always these 2 homeless guys sitting by the same McDonalds. One day I decided to eat at McDonalds and they were standing outside. Bought em both a Big Mac meal. Just the happniness they got from that made it worth it. I was in DC for 3 more months after that. They got the same meal once a day the rest of the time I was there.
  4. You seem like a nice couple, cheers to you for that. I was once driving home from a poker game late one night and it was the dead of winter and cold as absolute fuck and I noticed a car had slid into a median near an overpass. At first I wasn't going to stop because I had to wake up early and it was cold as fuck, but then I realized thats a pretty dickhead thing to do and how much id appreciate help if it happend to me. So I turned around and went back to where the car was got out and asked them if they needed help, turns out they were drunk as fuck. So I bounced.
  5. Saved someones life. Thats just how I roll though.
  6. Nude photos of your wife would be nice, and I'm someone you don't know.

    :)
  7. When hurricane Katrina hit I evacuated to my uncles in Texas. After the storm I bounced up to Kentucky to visit my then girlfriend. When I got word that power was back on I headed back to La. Having to stop every couple exits and get gas due to the gas shortage from Mississippi on down to the bayou. Well it was like 11 pm and I was somewhere in Alabama. I topped off my tank and grabbed me some Macdonalds. The McD's was attached to the gas station, anyone whose traveled seen this setup. Well I was parked in front of the store eating my burger when I noticed this chic kinda staring at me. I noticed she had La tags and a car load of kids.

After I finished eating I got out of my truck to throw my garbage and she walked over. She was like, "Sir, I am from La and evacuated, we are trying to get back home but are out of money. My kids are starving and I need enough gas to make it home to slidell. I'll do anything for you if you can help us." Well as she was saying that I was sitting in my truck with the door open and she started rubbing my leg. I looked at her, looked at her kids and knowing 1 tank of gas would get her home in her little 4 door foreign car. I said, "go ahead and pull up to the pump, fill it up". She was like "thank you sir, thank you... what do you want?". I said, "nothing", After she filled up I told her to follow me into Mcd's. I ordered kids meals for her kids, a combo for her and gave her $20 just incase she needed drinks or something for the kids. She wanted my number but I refused, she gave me her number, and her dads number and said call me and my dad will bring you the money. I just can't contact him cause of the storm.

Honestly, I never felt so good about doing something for someone in my life. I never bothered to call her or her dad. I bet she will tell her family about the great kajun from lafourche parish for the rest of her life.

  8. The one that I feel the best about is: I was in a Wal-Mart check out line waiting to pay for my stuff and as usual it is busy as hell and normally at about this time I would rather gouge my eyes out with steak knives. As usual, I always pick the line that goes the slowest and wouldn't you know it the lady (two in front of me), can't find a credit card that works and has no cash.

She is embarressed, her kid is crying, and the bitch between us is rolling her eyes and mumbling shit. I look and see the only thing she is buying is baby stuff...formula, whipes, diapers, ect.... She now looks like she is going to cry and picks up her baby and was about to leave. I give the bitch between us a shoulder and step up front and told the clerk to hold on. I whip out some cash ($78 or something), and pay for her items. She starts crying and hugging me and wants my address so she could pay me back (but I don't give it to her).

I just went back to my spot in line and watched them leave and I never felt a greater sense of self pride in my life. Nor sure if she was rich or poor, but it didn't matter, I knew she needed the baby stuff now. The only thing I regret is not saying something to the bitch in between us. She never said a word and just held her hand on her hip and rolled her eyes. (Not that I felt she should pay for her stuff, but a little bit of politeness would have done the trick).

Could have been a scam, but f*** it, I felt better...
  9. Nothing real huge, but I do countless small things to help out strangers

Buying homeless people food all the time

When I lived in Atlanta, there were homeless dudes on every street, I was constantly giving them doggie bags, a few slices of uneaten pizza, etc. They always appreciated it.

Helping people with car trouble on the side of the road.

    Crap like that.
  10. I gave someone I didn't know my last cigarette in the pack, if you're a smoker you understand.

I actually think that counts as doing something for yourself.
  12. I acknowleded a homeless guy once
  13. Good story.. Kajun

I didn't get a chance to read yours before I posted mine, but very similar and I know the feeling.
  14. Not really what your asking, but it semi-relates so I will mention

Some random guy walked up to me yesterday afternoon wearing all nice shit
(Flashy clothes, Jewelry, nice Shoes, Expensive Sunglasses...etc etc etc)

And he asked me "Hey excuse me man, do you have Forty Cents?"...he continued.. "I'm not one of those homeless guys man, I just need forty cents for the bus".

I cant believe some people sometimes- I should have been hitting him up for money!!!!!

Keep in mind I look poor and he looks rich, and he just decides to cross party lines and hit me up for some loot...wtf?
  15. I used to be nice to homeless people/bums but ever since this douche complained that the money i gave him wasnt enough i said F it!! Still nice to other people i dont know tho. Other then that i do nice shit all the time for people!
  16. During the 2003 Northeast Blackout, I was living in NYC and had just left work to get on the train. The power went out as I entered the subway station and I ended up having to walk from Manhattan to South Brooklyn over the Brooklyn Bridge. It took 5 hours. As I was getting ready to get on the bridge I ended up chatting with a nice elderly lady who was slightly disabled due to a leg injury and had to go to the Southern part of Brooklyn near where I lived. There were a couple of shady areas at night that we had to walk through so I slowed down and walked with her for 5 hours to make sure she made it home okay. She was awesome. Even with her leg she didn't complain once about having to walk that far or long.
  17. This old guy asked me for directions once, I knew where he wanted to go but I'm a directional retard so I didn't know any street names or anything, so I was having a hard time explaining it to him when I was like fuck it just follow me, so I drove like 10 miles to where this dude was going at old man speed so he could keep up, he tried to drop me $20 when we got there too, was a nice old fella imo.

    edit:

I also found this dog digging through my garbage one afternoon, he had a collar with a # on it so I called expecting to tell them to get their mutt before I called the pound as I was uber pissed that I was cleaning all this garbage up, but when the dude answered he was all apologetic before I even got to the garbage and he explained that his wife was giving birth so he was at the hospital and couldn't really leave, so I was like fuck it and talked to him for like 20 minutes while he explained how to get to his house and I dropped his dog off for him.
