  1. In other words, the part or segment of a song that you just can't get enough of and you have to keep replaying over and over. It can be vocals, a guitar riff, guitar solo, whatever.

It's a tough question to answer if you ask me, but after some thought and listening I really think I've found my favorite. The song, Draco, is a little-known gem from one of Buckethead's collaborative albums. The part starts from 4:35 to 5:38. It's simply the most beautiful guitar solo I've ever heard, and I can't use enough adjectives to describe how amazing it is. I hope some of you have such a favorite part of a song, and I'm eager to see what some of you post.

  2. The end of Aerials by System of a Down.

  3. I wouldnt say my favorite ever, but this song has been on repeat the last few days and from 4:00 till the end I crank the shit out of it to the point of permanent hearing damage. Fair warning, me and you don't like the same music.

Based on your posts in that recent Led Zeppelin thread, I'd say you're wrong. LZ and Sabbath are two of my favorite bands. And with exception to the screaming, I actually liked the song you posted, especially the ending.

  5. Jeez this is so impossible to answer. I mean if its just one part of one song I could go Vivaldi; or I could go Glenn Miller Orchestra; Lerner and Loewe; or I could go Frank Sintra; or The Beatles; or Johnny Cash; or AC/DC; or Lynyrd Skynyrd; or I could go Ben Folds; or I could go with some of the electronic music I listen to today. I guess my point is that isolating one part of one song is the most ridiculous thing ever to really feel comfortable with an answer for.

But since electronic music is what I'm listening to most these days I guess I'll try to isolate one part of one song that I find myself listening to a lot today. I'm sorta coming up with this on the fly here but when the chorus drops in at 3:00 I just find it moving and fantastic. Obviously you gotta be in the right mood and, more broadly, enjoy this type of music but I think this is about as good as this can get.

  6. Tough fuckin question, but I'm gunna go with the solo at 5:00 (there's a good one at 2:40 as well, but the 2nd one is where it's at yo.) Fyi, you're doing yourself a disservice if you just jump right to the solo...

  7. i love the chorus riff in this song, especially the 2nd time around when the lyric is over it. Insane energy to it, the funk/industrial vibe.

fuck i love System of a Down. The bridge (basically last 1:20 of the song) is fucking great, the whole pop/hardcore/surf punk thing is awesome. I hope they come back, they were just starting to peak imo.

this whole song gives me chill, mostly the vocals, love Terri Nunn's voice.

The outro/2nd half of this is pretty badass (skip to 4:37 if you dont like the whole song)

  19. The greatest outro guitar solo of all time imo love that it just stops on a dime after so much chaos, Shenker is so amazing. Starts at like 6:45:

I've posted this a bunch (well Love to Love too) but from 4:10 - 5:00ish is just such an amazing section:

Starting at 4:30 with the dual guitars just as heavy but melodic as possible transitioning into the same melody on the single acoustic transitioning into a soulful guitar solo transitioning back to the original part. Like 4:30-6:30:

Just a few that came to mind I could probably list a shit ton more

  22. about 5:00 to the end, the atonal strings clash with thom's haunting voice creating an immense amount of tension that, when resolved, is a gorgeous, goose bump inducing thing.

  27. no way nasty, never pegged you for a new-waver, ever.

the transition from the long electronic noise + drum solo + plant-moaning to the 48 bar guitar solo is one of the greatest moments in rock and roll history.

    starts about 3:02.

  28. i really like from 3:02 - 3:17 in this video
