not my earliest memory but as a teenager my parents used to try to get me to go to shows on b'way and i would always say no. les miz, cats, phantom.... i said no to all. looking back it was a mistake.
i am surprised some people's earliest memories arent til like 4. i remember my crib (guess i should check and make sure i wasn't in a crib til age 4.) i also think i have other memories, but i am not 100% sure i am not remembering a picture. i am pretty sure i remember that i used to take books from the shelves at top of stairs and throw them down the stairs a lot. i was prob 2 then. -
my earliest memory was my 3rd bday. In my backyard we hand a baseball diamond set uo, and I remember my grandpa asked me how long it would take me to run the bases. I ran them and counted myself and it took about 5-7 seconds. I then remarked how fast I was and that I should be in the pros :D
-
the question in the title and the 2nd sentence of op are very different. my daughters 13 months old and doesnt talk yet but remembers plenty of things.

but how do some of you have memories dated? my family moved to a bigger house so my brother and i didnt have to share a room when i was 5. i have memories from our first house but no way to order them.
also i refuse to believe dyzalot knew 3 was half of 6 and 6 was half of 12 at 3-years-old.
Reason: mickey mantles round the bases time was under 5 seconds before he learned to walk -
Holy Shit, you got my thinking pretty well down to a tee. I wrote the whole thing out and decided to go back and put the faggy bit in, I typed it in and deleted it twice. Really was tossing up on putting it in or not. I feel like I don't really give a shit what people think of me on here (fwiw, i really don't enjoy badminton, I was good at it and all, but not my cup of tea). I put it there so that my point could be noted without the first person saying 'Fag' 'Ghey' etc, I've seen what happens here. It's almost more of a confrontation avoider than anything else (obv didnt work in this particular case), but maybe I do care what a bunch of faceless internet people think of me.

i am fascinated by why people do things. so u write, "When I was 12 I played Badminton (such a faggy game) and the..." i am curious why u feel the need to call the game faggy.
is it bc u are afraid that if u just write that u are playing badminton and don't qualify it, that people are going to make fun of you? now, i can understand that bc it may not be worth the hassle of having to deal with these people and their close-mindedness, but look at what they are forcing u to do. call a game that u may not think is actually "faggy" by that name. so u are changing for these people and mind u that "these people" are ones that would make fun of someone just bc they played badminton (at 12).
on the other hand, u may actually think Badminton is faggy. now i wonder why u would think that. to play it at the top level it takes an extreme amt of skill. obv it is not a hugely popular sport but there are people that like it. what does it say about you if u describe an entire group of people who enjoy a harmless athletic activity as faggy? seems childish to me, not too mention ignorant. if badminton isn't ur cup of tea, so be it but why spend any amt of energy calling out the people who do like it. i find that odd behavior.
i feel the same about people who ask,"is it gay if....?"
in the interest of full disclosure, although i like a few songs from broadway musicals (les miserables ftw!), i would hesitate to post a thread titled, "what is ur fav b'way musical song?" bc i could imagine on the surface it would be unproductive in actually finding out people's favorites and instead would prob deteriorate. maybe i am underestimating OT's acceptance of b'way showtunes and doing myself a disservice by holding off on that thread. i don't like them enough either to be interested in that thread.
so in closing, badminton is fun and just curious why people do that?
fwiw I would not post in your broadway showtunes thread as I have not seen enough to really feel that my input would be valid, however, I would lurk the shit outta that thread (read through it once). I did enjoy your rant though and unfortunately im a bit too lazy to get into anything deeper right now, however I enjoy that your brain works along those lines! Thanks! -

I am fascinated by why people do things. So u write, “i like a few songs from broadway musicals”, then show your desire to make a thread about them, then finish with “i don’t like them enough either to be interested in that thread”, i am curious why you feel the need to play down your enthusiasm for them.
Is it bc u are afraid that if u just write that u spectate musicals and don’t qualify it, that people are going to make fun of you? Now, i can understand that bc it may not be worth the hassle of having to deal with these people and their close-mindedness, but look at what they are forcing u to do. To undermime a pastime that you actually enjoy. So u are changing for these people and mind u that “these people” are one that would make fun of someone just bc they like broadway musicals. (even tho they are male).
On the other hand, u may not actually enjoy broadway musicals that much, now i wonder why this is. The work and effort that goes into putting on a successful broadway musical is mind blowing. People play multiple characters, every line has to be said on cue with no second chances, the musical has to be written in a way that keeps the audience interested. What does it say about you if at first you say you like broadway musicals, but then feel the need to make light of your level of interest because others may call you a fag? Seems childish to me, not to mention ignorant. If broadway musicals aren’t really all that for you, so be it, but don’t contradict yourself by saying you like them and then disclaiming this with your final comment. I find that odd behaviour.
I feel the same about people who ask, “is it gay if.....?”
In the interest of full disclosure, although i enjoy foot pedicures and massages (Asians ftw!), i would hesitate to post a thread titled, “how much would you love a pedicure right now?” bc i could imagine on the surface it would be unproductive in actually finding out who on here like pedicures and massages and instead would prob deteriorate. Maybe i am underestimating OT’s acceptance of the true feeling of relaxation and doing myself a disservice by holding off on tht thread. Foot pedicures and massages are for fags.
So in closing, broadway shows are fun and just curious why people do that? -
Just have a couple of memories from my first house -- we moved when I was four, but I'm not real sure how old I was for these memories.
Of those, I remember sitting in the car when we drove to the new house, and how I couldn't find my RoboCop action figure.... I never did find RoboCop, and to this day I wonder where he went. -
If it helps I knew how to tell time, read and use negative numbers in addition and subtraction prior to entering the 1st grade. My mother "momofdyz" can verify all of this especially since the clock thing wasn't my parents' doing and became annoying to them when I would point out it wasn't my bed time yet or something like that.

i never said i was perfect and don't also do things bc of how people will react to them. i weighed what i thought i might get out of a thread like that and the effort i would have to expend dealing with possible comments in the thread. bway showtunes are not something i think enough about to constantly be thinking of making a thread about them.

the above posters comment, made me remember the thought i had of posting a thread like that. and i recognized some of the same stuff in that post as something that went thru my mind. everyone censors themselves to some degree.
that sentence tho was more to say that i'm not like sitting home wishing i could make a thread about this but am worried about how people will perceive it, i just have an occasional enjoyment of that music and have like once or twice considered that thread.
wp on the response btw. -
Badminton is a great game, I used to love playing it, perfect for young kids to develop some hand-eye coordination

I remember some of the strangest things. I can remember my 5th grade teacher doing attendance and I can remember every name she said.. MInd you this is 28 years ago. (Jason,Jill,Yvette,Wayne,Tony(that was me)Paul,Micheal,Danielle,Rico,Joey-Lynn,Joseph Kim, Kristine,Laurie,John Jamie,Norman,Denise)
I think my first legit oldest memory is Brett Homering off Gossage In 1980 LCS. -
Probably around 2 years old, riding with my dad to pick mom up from work. I think the car was a red Chevy. That was 40 years ago btw.
-
I have a couple memories from our old house. We moved a few days before my 3rd bday so I was likely 2 for all of them. Unfortunately they're all rather mundane.
- Being pulled out of the crib and noticing all the board games in the closet. "Guess Who?" is the only one I clearly remember.
- Taking a bath with my brother and each of us having a bar of soap in the shape of a crayon. I was crazy disappointed that I couldn't draw with it.
- Going with my godfather to the quick shop down the street to get some Hostess mini donuts in his old brown station wagon.
I also remember actually moving out. I was stunned that just two men could lift and carry a couch with very little effort.
Also, anyone who doesn't like Broadway musicals is a fag. -
Being at my Florida condo when I was ~2 yrs old and being deathly afraid of water. I was screaming bloody murder because my mom wanted to take me swimming in the pool.

As "momofdyz" I can attest to his mathematical precociousness at a ridiculously young age. And we could keep no secrets because he was reading at 5 and spelling followed right behind.
He learned fractions through food...halves and quarters of sandwiches, eighths of pies, etc.
And yeah, the clock thing was really annoying back then...lol -
i remember alot more of my childhood than my recent past. must be the impact of BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER.
jk i remember all kinds of stuff i jjust dont know how old i was for any of them. lots of memories between 2-4 years old.
