  9. ya i dont see a problem with continuing to hang out with them, you dont have to dis ppl you have been friends with for 6years+ jst because their goals are different.
  10. I spend $100 a month for us to practice at a studio since we have no where else too, and play 4-5 shows a month an getting home at 4am and getting to my job at a golf course at 7am sucks.

It seems more like the problem is you and your goals. If you can't handle staying up until 4 and then getting a couple of hours of sleep before having to go to work, then you have to quit one of them. Stop blaming it on your friends.

yeah but musicians pull hellllllllllllllllla tail
  13. you sound like a pretentious bitch...

your friends will be better off if you leave
  14. wtf does golf have to do with anything?

    Is this some weird level?
  15. You sound like this girl i used to see back in the day... she was very well educated working towards her PhD but couldnt stand the fact that i wasnt living up to my potential and completely dogged all of my friends for having no goals and they werent good enough for me to hang out with. (she always used to comment that she was at the higher end of the social pyramid and they were the bottom of it etc etc). Why cant you just be happy that you are working on bettering yourself and know that your friends will be happy for you and that you should return the favor. People in life have different paths in life and as long as they are content and happy to be on their specific path wtf are you to decide that its the wrong path? Do your own thing and if they are truly friends they will support you and maybe later in life your paths will cross again if you so choose
  16. whats your cut per show? Like on average how much to you make. I mean we made pretty good money playing in dive bars 10 years ago. That has to account for something. Does your new job cover what you made playing in the band?

  17. sounds like you already made up your mind and have your answer. personally, I wouldn't use OT to validate what you seem to have already decided. priorities in life change, relationships evolve and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. the only suggestions I would make would be twofold:

    a) if these guys really are your friends, just have a conversation with them about what your feeling and why you want to step back.

    b) don't look down on them because they don't share your priorities. most of OT will just make crass comments towards you instead of actually articulating a thought, but the "joke" life that you think that they are living, is just that, their life. do what you need to with yours, and support your friends as best you can in theirs.
  18. What my friends choose to do with their lives doesn't really have any effect on me being friends with them at all whatsoever. They could become hedge fund traders or complete bums or murderers or whatever random thing, and I doubt I would care at all, they'd still be my holmes. My best friends from high school are still my best friends and most likely always will be. If you hang out with the same dudes every day for a decade, you're pretty much family. Doesn't matter how rich or famous or opposite of that any of them are. Cuz no matter, what, no matter how much time has passed, when you meet up, you still know them inside and out and vice versa for the remainder of your lives, and can talk on a level and understand each other's shit on a level pretty much nobody else can. Wouldn't trade that for anything. A good friend is for life.

almost everything that this man said
  20. Oh come on, murderers are tons of fun.
  21. sounds like you need to grow the fuck up, accept your own responsibilities and start acting like a man( since you seem to think of yourself as one) and stop blaming your band for your doldrums....seriously your band has nothing to do with the rest of your life, grow the fuck up and accept your responsibilities....your band prlly sucks, and you will never make it as a golfer sooooooo why dont you just finish college and get a degree so that you can live an average life like everyone else.....seriously ur a "psych. major" and a "scratch golfer" you think that makes you better than your band mates? grab some fucking spine and stop acting like your better than your friends cause you go to college.......you seem like a joke person wise......

yeah, don't see what the lifestyle judgments of your friends has to do with anything. unless you're trying to justify the decision in your head and remove the guilt you have (<-------woahh some heavy shit there).

slacker friends are usually the most fun.

edit: half your fucking post is about golfing. settle down with the self-righteousness, you're not curing cancer.

lol this is bullshit. His friends will probably be jealous and bitter and give him shit for not hanging out. Misery loves company.

Like someone else said tho it's not like you have to just cut all ties. Pick up more responsibility and tell them sorry but you can't hang out til 4 a.m. anymore. It would be funny tho if you are gone for a few months and they end up hitting the big time.
  24. You must be the drummer.

  27. You move on from your friends when they start to have a negative impact on your life. You can give them a chance for this to change, but when it starts to get worse then its time to say adios
