  1. Either this upcoming fall or a year from this spring I'm going to study abroad. I'm not exactly sure where to go but I'm starting to generate a list of places. Let me know how you feel about these places and any other places you might suggest, The only palce I've ever been outside the US and Canada is England so my travel experience is limited. I'll be living in the city for 4-6 months. Some things I'm looking for are a place thats both fun fo a college age person but also has a bit of historical flavor. Also trying to find somewhere that is easy to travel to other countries.

    Hong Kong
    Budapest
    Barcelona
    London
    Tokyo
    Bejing
    Paris
    Bangkok
    Singapore
  2. I've been to Barcelona, London, and Paris and out of those three Barcelona without a doubt.

  3. Out of what you posted I've been to Barcelona, Londan and Paris.

Fuck all that, got anywhere in Italy. A smaller village if you have the option
  4. Here is how I would organize that list:

    London
    Tokyo
    Paris
    Bejing
    Hong Kong
    Barcelona
    Budapest
    Singapore
    Bangkok

But, I've never been anywhere but Mexico and Canda (permabanned from Canada, but that's another story)
  5. hmm depends on which places you want to travel more within europe or within Asia. Having lived in asia for over a year i love it there would highly recommend for ppl to go there to live.school.work whatever. I would say BKK or HK in asia. BKK would be a little bit cheaper, however since being in HK there is something that i cant forget about that city and everytime ive been back i love every second of it. so my personal choice would be HK, a lil more expensive..but super easy to travel all over asia form HK for decent prices. Many asia only airlines have sick sick deals on some days/flights.

  6. i spent over a year in jamaica for school. nice people, beautiful weather, and the herbal was aplenty.
  7. in her bedroom.
  8. <insert rim shot here> Ladies & gentlemen, the incomparable Gene Krupa!

  9. Why so many asian locals? I would try to go to either Stockholm Sweden or Copenhagen Denamrk. Copenhagen rules. Stockholm is fucking awesome and every girl there has bright blonde hair, is fit and rides a 10-speed bike around. It also has a subway system which I was surprised by.
  10. I did a study abroad program in London for a month and it was awesome!!!!!!!! Historically they have so much to offer. I studied World War II while I was there. The museums there are fascinating. I could spend a week in the British museum and still not see everything.
Also went to Paris, Scottland, and Germany. Not knowing French or German put a damper on my experiences there. I was so excited to get back to London where people spoke English.
  11. Ive been living in asia 8 months now and I would definetly pick an asian city. Beijing is an awesome city and dirt cheap but ive heard shanghai is cooler. Tokyo is crazy expensive but Osaka is a little more afordable and kicksass. HK is a favorite among a lot of westerners Ive met her. Havn't been to thailand yet but everyone says BKK is insane.

Oh yea, most women in theses places are petite and a lot of them are gorgeous, if thats ur thing.
  12. anywhere with lots of asian girls has to be top of the list.
  13. been with a few asian chicks. one was actually a model. two worst lays i've ever had.
  14. Osaka> Tokyo

that being said Tokyo is still > almost everywhere else

there's so much to do in Osaka; it's basically the tradition for everyone in the city to bar-hop at night. Oh, and if the Tigers are winning (local baseball team) beers are 50 cents a piece. Everyone's friendly as hell, oh and did I mention hot asian girls wearing schoolgirl outfits at the bars?
    Osaka FTW

  15. Barcelona if you are going to Europe imo.
  16. The problem with Asia is the language barrier, the only place everyone speaks english is Singapore. I was in Singapore for a few days and it just felt like one big mall. Hong Kong works too, loved it there and so much to do, but very expensive.

I studied abroad in China near Shanghai, and unless you're learning Chinese I wouldn't study there. BKK is a great place to go party and traveling around Thailand is great, but I don't think i'd want to live there for 6mos, sickeningly hot and humid.
  17. I did it in paris. sfawesome.
  18. I've studied in Paris. That city sucks for students.

I've worked in Tokyo. Interesting but that city is a grind.

If you're going to work in business any China-related exposure will be worth its weight in gold.
  19. I didn't read the post but Daydreams off of 95 is the way to go!
  20. Ok - take my advice.

I lived in London for 5 months during college (Queen Mary and Westfield College) - It was awesome and I had a great experience. I went to Scotland and France and all over England, including Stonehenge, Hastings, Oxford, etc...

With that said, I would strongly suggest you do not go to London. The cost of living is so damn high that I went completely broke at the end. Also, if you are American it is not THAT different a place to live. It is almost too easy.

I suggest a place where people know English to an extent, but you are willing to work on a different language while there. Also a place where your money will take you far. Also, very important, somewhere that allows you to travel to a lot of other places - you need to take advantage of your free time and see as much as possible.

I suggest you go int he Spring - the weather will start to get better and, at the end of the trip, you may be able to stay a month and travel with people you meet.

A really good suggestion is Italy. There is a place called Perugia that is a college town in the hills, sort of between Florence and Rome (about an hour or two to either one by train)... I visited my friend there when she was studying Italian - the city is really cool and everyone knows everyone, and you are within close distance to all kinds of other places.

So yeah - I also suggest you do as much research as possible on the place before you decide - talk to anyone and everyone that has an opinion, so that you know as much as possible before showing up.

Keep an open mind about everything. Be willing to do whatever comes your way.

Still the best memories of my life.

If you do decide on London, pm me for more info.
  21. I would recommend somewhere in Europe. My girlfriend spent a year in Stuttgart, Germany, and a semester in Buenos Aires, Argentina (and I visited both). She loves Germany, but thought Buenos Aires was only okay. In Germany, she got to travel to a lot of places, and we visited Paris, Rome, and Venice while I was there, and she also got to go to Switzerland, Czech, Hungary, etc. And there is a good chance people will at least understand some English in most Western European countries. Never been to Asia, so I have no comments on those.
  22. I studied abroad in Barcelona two years ago. It's the easy choice. Let me know if you have any questions
