Even if you don't spend it, an extra $2billion a week = an extra $104billion a year. That's a quarter of the deficit killed right there
-
ok well i am with you on iraq, however the US has intervined when people have been free and elected not so US friendly leaders. in guatemala and iran they elected their leaders through popular election, and the CIA got involved. is that right? to get involved with the politics of another democratic society?
-
use the $ for the injured vets u treat like dirt would be a good move too. Then use the rest for the future injuries when the war comes to your backyard.
Human memory is amazing, you can get home invaded and feel paranoid for years, but eventually that wears off and you feel safe again, no need to worry about it happening ever again.... until it does, then you wish you stayed more aware and had more security and feel like a fool. Thats how the USA in general will feel if you pull out b4 its done, because Iraq will crumble pretty quickly without US presense (literally probably in a week to a month max) and in due time when something in your country, state, city, block, house, gets blown the hell up, you will be like oooo shit, at least we saved 2 billion a week son!!! -
how do you figure? $293,161,447,381.63

that is the current deficit. thats almost 300 trillion. an extra $104 billion a year is nothing. if we are cutting stuff we don't like, lets get rid of welfare/food stamps/government housing. -
whoa... i guess you really are that dumb if you are fighting to provide democracy for the people of iraq while ignoring what they want. lol whoa
-
what????? how about we don't let the war come to our back yard! that is the worst thing i have ever heard. so lets sit back and wait til we get attacked again. THEN we can go fight the terrorists?

Its really simple how pulling out helps. You either have an extra $104 billion to spend on something worthwhile OR you don't spend it and insta-kill a quarter of the deficit. Win-win proposition imo -
$104 billion is not a quarter of the defiect. maybe for the financial year, but overall its $300 trillian.

Read your number again and get back to me -
No.
The number you cited at me was 293 billion 161 million 447 thousand 381 dollars and 63 cents -
I'm not in favor of a huge amount deficit spending but I think if we're going to do it we may as well spend on something worthwhile.
I am in favor of a moderate (maybe about $100 billion or a little less) government deficit, however. PM Alexander Hamilton for details on why -
billion/trillion its all the same. not going to do much. we will never have a balanced budget again. but if we pulled out of iraq, its not like they are going to divert those funds to scholarships or whatever. it would just be money not spent. kill the terrorists imo
-
sorry, rf posts only 2wice a day, and usually it's two awesomely funny posts. gg us immfo
-
we should spend less imo. but some think 1 trill (allegedly) is worse than the 30 trill SS deficit. perspective, I guess.
-
zomg when jeff uses the word "perspective" a chill goes down my spine, lol
-
Jeeeeeeeeeeesus christ. Since you went to OSU I never pegged you as a genius but good lord.

First of all a billion and a trillion are not the same. A trillion is 1,000 times more than a billion
Second, if the number you cited, 293 billion, is correct, then $104billion represents a little more than 1/3 of that deficit.
Now here comes the tricky part. If we pulled out of Iraq and didn't "divert the funds to scholarships or whatever" as you put it, then what happens to national spending? It goes down. Now if we reduce spending by $104billion and hold revenue constant, what happens to the deficit?????
Please don't make me finish that for you. -
sorry drinking, but still deficit is not going away no matter what you do unless you get rid of everything which wont happen. just a fact.
