  1. I got a new sony vaio 15.5 laptop today. The touchpad is okay but not that good. The left and right buttons under touchpad didn't work at first but support helped me with settings and now it works fine. The problem now is that the left button right clicks instead of left click. Does anyone know if this is a setting program or some faulty product?

  2. Really I have no idea, but if my life depended on it or I was faced with not being able to play my $0.10 turbo 360 man without misclicking I would definitely say it was a setting issue. I would then go to my control panel and click on mouse or touchpad and see what it says. Keep in mind I know nothing about computers. gl

Control Panel-----Switch it to Classic View----------Find Mouse------------Change it to Right Handed.................Sounds like support hooked u up with mouse settings for a lefty. Although I'm a lefty but I never use the left handed setting. Hope this helps.

  6. Your mouse is set up for a left handed user. Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Mouse>tab for buttons and the left/right hand options should be at the top

  7. I don't think that is the problem. I checked switch primary and secondary buttons and it is still the same. I also want to add... i am NOT using my mouse so i don't see that setting. I am using just the touchpad and my problem is both the left and right click act as the right click. Also, here is another weird thing. If i havefirefox open and just try to x it out... i can do this with the left and right click buttons of my touchpad. This does not make sense because since its a right click, its NOT suppose to close the page. Does anyone know what in the world is going on here?

When i put a mouse in, everything is perfect. I'm just talking about the touchpad ... the left and right click buttons. The left click and right click both RIGHT CLICKS.

  9. I spoke to online support and they tell me judging from these problems, its 100 percent its a hardware issue and that there is no way i can fix this problem myself. They tell me they will get a technical support person over to fix it but it would take 8 business days at least....

  10. Most likely they sold you a Viao that was intended to be sold in Australia (or possibly a South American version - depending upon whether or not you have a Hispanic keyboard). There is nothing that you can do as the mouse is designed for a user from the Southern Hemisphere.
Take it back and ask for an American Vaio. And don't let them play dumb with you. Insist that they prove that it is an American version when you get your new one.

  11. Even if it was a computer to another country... why would it left click right click. I am pretty sure it wouldn't be that way no matter what country you are right? They have my info and say i will receive a phone call within 7 business days to have someone make an appointment with me to have a tech support guy come and fix this issue. I feel like returning like this laptop to sony and just buying another one now. However, this sony laptop LOOKS REAL NICE. I ask them would it be better if i send them it back and they return a new one and they said that would take longer than if a tech person came over and fixed it. Your thoughts?

  12. Hey everyone. I received my sony vaio 15.5 eb series i3-370m laptop today. However, the left click on touchpad right clicks. Support told me its a hardware issue that cannot be fixed and that they can send someone over. Also, if i want to close the firefox window... pressing the left or right click works which is a problem with this touchpad. The scrolling of the touchpad however has no problem though. Would you guys suggest i sent this laptop back instead? If they send someone to come and repair it, they would have to open the laptop and i don't think that is good for the long run of my computer. Should i just request a new laptop instead? Also, i got the free $50 upgrade to 1080P when i purchased the laptop.

I would assume i don't have to pay the extra $50 now correct? The battery life i notice is around 2 hours just web browsing. I am thinking if i should just return it and get a sager 5135 because i heard battery life is 3 hours and it offers 1080P. But i know that laptop does not look as good as a sony one. I will mainly play online poker with applications on it and browse and listen to music.

However, the sony vaio LOOKS VERY NICE. Thoughts?

  15. lol at this logic, do you not know how computer works? If the buttons work fine, it's not faulty hardware. The problem is a setting somewhere that is wrong. By the way, support is always bullshit, they don't know shit. I always figure out my computer shit on my own. Most of it is common sense.

  16. Yes the sony vaio looks VERY NICE.

I just talked to support and did trouble shooting and installed a driver. What is funny now is that the left and right click buttons don't even work anymore. However, the left click and button button works if i click on those items on my taskbar such as internet explorer and windows media player. But if i click it a 2nd time, a new explorer will show up. I cannot click on anything besides those 3 items on my taskbar with the left/right click now.

sxeffects, would you say my buttons work fine based on what is happening? I have checked the settings for it and everything is fine.

Sounds like you downloaded a corrupt driver. You can roll back the driver the previous one by going into the Control Panel then to Hardware and Sound then click on Device Manager under Devices and Printers. Double click on "Mouse and other pointing devices" then double click on touchpad. A new box will open and now select the "Driver" tab. About halfway down there will be a box that says roll back driver, click on that and follow the instructions, you may have to restart.
