Apparently they are only going to use one endzone during the game.

This is retarded.
http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/nc...ory?id=5824661
• All offensive plays will head toward the west end zone, including all extra points and all overtime possessions.
• All kickoffs will be kicked toward the east end zone.
• After every change of possession, the ball will be repositioned for the offense to head toward the west end zone.
• As a result of a coin toss held by the conference office Friday morning, Illinois will occupy the west team bench in the first half and Northwestern will occupy the west team bench in the second half and for all overtime periods. -
What? Seriously?
-
I didn't hear that, I heard that the one end may not be as safe as they'd like but shit this is ridiculous. Tell the players to be cautious on the one end or don't play the game there.
-
Just added the link to the OP
-
Wow, I guess you were serious. How can anyone organize this and think "yeah, let's do it" retards
-
LOL @ this. So if theres a pick or an INT can they score if there's no endzone to run to?

It's going to be kind of like a 3 on 3 basketball game where you have to take the ball back before you can score. So if a guy gets a pick he has to run back to the 50 yard line first then turn around and go for the same end zone
-
Meh, if you look at the picture there is an endzone... its just got a brick wall about 2 feet behind the back line. They're just doing this to make sure that no one gets knocked unconscious diving for a pass in the other endzone.
-
from what I understand they will be able to run back a interception for a touchdown just like they normally would. There just is not much room in the east endzone. They dont want any injuries taking place in the east endzone.
-
I'm definitely tuning in to watch the game now. This is just so bad.
-
So lemme get this straight.... the players can launch themselves at each other at maximum speed all game, but they can only use half of the field because the seats are kinda close in one of the end zones?
Why don't they just go all the way to the ratarted extreme ~ let the players dress up in skirts and play flag football and call it the Mamby-Pamby Bowl. -
No they still have both end zones and the game will play pretty much like a normal game. If you intercept the ball you can run it into the dangerous end zone. They just don't want to run plays into that end zone because if someone runs a fade or a route going to the back corner of the end one and they run 2 feet past the back of the end zone they would smack into the vines and a brick wall. This will slow down the game and take some strategy out of the game because of the wind, and maybe piss off some fans who bought seats near the other end zone but otherwise shouldn't be a big deal.

My grandparents used to go to football games at Wrigley.
-
If there is an interception going back the otherway, both the guy who picked it and the guy who's chasing him have to go half speed once they get to the 15 yardline. Kind of like the pit lane at the race track. Safety first.

Thoughts?
Cliffs: One endzone is apparently too close to the brick wall at Wrigley Field when Illinois/northwestern play tomorrow. Anytime a team is on offense they are going to switch and head the same direction. -
fk me and I skimmed to see if I could find someone who posted it. I cant read. delete this pos thread Mods please
-
nahhh, you can run it into the bad endzone...the brick wall isnt 2 feet behind the goal line, its 2 feet behind the end line
Are they gonna switch ends before they punt also? -
maybe you can tell me why in the fuck they would even bother having a game here?

wp espn sending gameday to a nw/ill gm that has no meaning instead of the game of the week in college park.
imbeciles -
I'd be mad as hell if I had tickets on 3B side.
-
Def the last time they will have a game here. No reason anyway. Both teams have bigger stadiums.
-
Why does this make any difference? And why would it affect the flow of the game? If you get an INT, you can bring it back to the other end zone, just like in normal football. They just don't want QBs throwing passes toward a wall.

I really don't get what the big deal is about using one offensive end zone. -
yea but say you punt from midfield to the opponent's 5, everyone has to walk to the complete other side of the field.

i like it tho as i think having the brick wall 6 inches from the back line is absurd.
