Revisiting a thread from April 2007:

Here's me, predicting the future. I spent the next year and a half arguing economy and politics in OT. (Steve = Magnet Steve. Pretty sure this was the first time we all got into it.)Originally Posted by Underdog
Artiecat started another one of his threads yesterday and it quickly devolved into a flamewar between liberals and conservatives, which is always fun. One of the points of contention was what made someone become a liberal or a conservative, with the conservatives like Artiecat, PrestonLuv, and LeftyMark dominating the debate (no offense fellow libs). This came just a few days after I saw a really interesting exchange between MUPokerPlayer and Magnet Steve about the same topic, and it really got me to thinking about this subject, and so I thought I would share my own experiences with you (because, after all, you didn't ask me to.)
First of all, this will probably come across to some of you as a brag post, which is fine

Then you say "free market caused Great Depression", and then I say "actually Hoover caused the depression." Then you say I'm full of shit, then I refer you to a 1960's article by Alan Greenspan (very, very ironically) where he explains how Hoover created the Federal Reserve and ruined the economy. Then you tell me I'm still full of shit and we smoke a bowl and play MLB 2k7.
Edit: I can tell from your response to jasmith above that you're pissed off by the conversation. In case you can't tell, I'm bored by it. Great thread, sure, but not one mind will be changed because of it.

If i only got into the political threads. Man i want to argue with all the kinds we have in OT with the political views they may have!
But i choose the high road because of the distorted views. -
you are welcome to join the fray any time. if i recall, you are no stranger to political/philosophical debate on OT - remember when Kramer used the N-word?
w33333333333333333333333333wt ftw obv -
emceeeeeeeee you own sir! I do remember when that happened and there were some heated debates/arguments. I just stopped giving a F about taking everyone so serious. This was what my buddy jericoholic taught me back in the day.
But w333333333333333wt was the man! Drink Up!!! Glad you remember that!

god Magnet steve is a genius in that thread. I wish I could articulate ideas as well as he.

brianyut and MagnetSteve are just brilliant. Those guys are impeccable!
MS Come back ASAP!!! -
Looks like I picked a good day to go to Disneyland with the family and miss out on ridiculous OT threads.

Ridiculous? The referenced thread was epic imo. Doesn't feel like that long ago.

I'm con-fused.

I'm not trying to make a point here. Just was searching for something else and came across the old thread, thought I'd share. Don't mind me, I'm the SF Giants of thread creation.

Wow, I just re-read that thread and you are right, it is epic. Mostly due to the discussion between you and Magnet Steve.

But in one post I used the word "deliterious" which means I must have been in a particularly douchy mood at the time. In my defense, it was in response to PrestonLuv's "black panther" argument, which should be ranked with Johnny Cochrane's "Chewbacca Defense" as one of the greatest legal manuevers in history.
Also, I was really happy with this comment by me:
"Aw geez, Ayn Rand. Atlast Shrugged? Underdog yawned."
