What do ya'll think of his chances playing in the 2010 Masters. I personally don't think its happening bc he is a total emotional wreck right now. He won't play unless he is 100% certain that he can win and I think he won't want to deal with the media hoopla for a tournament he actually cares about like the Masters for his first one back. I've got a friend who says 100% he's in the field and is willing to lay me 3:1....
Thoughts on this bet? -
you need a question mark in your title...
-
I don't see how he will miss the Masters...I just don't see it...but I have never cheated on my wife with a lot of bitches and been the best in the world...so its hard to get a feeling how he is doing emotionally...
-
I dont think he is planing on playing from what i have heard but i guess it is still early
-
Tiger has to be an emotional trainwreck right now. I wouldnt be surprised if he sits out the whole year.
His biggest fear right now is probably the thought of having to do an interview. He is currently such a circus in the media that I would guess it'll be 6 to 9 months before you ever see him make a public statement/interview... much less play golf. -
Yeah he's out EARLY Monday mornings, so if you're lucky you will see him for a few holes, again that's if you are lucky.

I dont think he'll play all year
-
He plays in the Masters, no one will care about this by the end of January.
-
they put up his "proposed" schedule on sportcenter last night, he was actually playin in a handful of tourneys before the masters. with the money goin out and not comin in, he needs to keep the sponsors happy and play
-
The Masters without Tiger definitely would suck but like someone said above, the Masters isn't great because of Tiger, it's because of the course and history. I would lean towards him playing in it but it's definitely like a 60-40 play/not play to me.
-
This. Tiger is a control freak. He is the best because he is in control of everything he can be in control of on the course, which is why you see him throwing clubs when the wind changes, or a camera goes off, or he gets a shit bounce. He has to be in control.

Thus his whole "I never play unless I'm 100% positive I can win" means he doesn't play unless he's in complete control. Right now he's not, and he won't be for a while. This is why you get 1/2 million dollars for any picture of him right now. Guy is not in control of anything so he's literally gone hiding in his network of caves (mansions). He had speech problems through childhood, has always been terrified of the media, and now he's been dragged through the mud as much or worse than any A-list celebrity in memory. His kids are being taken away from him, which I imagine is exponentially more emotionally shattering than any of the media/mistress/golf/sponsor/wife situations going on.
I take the Masters bet all day. This guy is a trainwreck right now and will be for the year.

PS - I'm a huge, huge, huge Tiger fan and I hope to god he plays and wins every tourney this year. Just don't see it happening. -

I didn't know skipping had gone pro yet. gl tiger. looks tuff tho. -
Tiger won't miss a major this year, and I bet he wins at least two while he's at it. All he has right now to take his mind off of his personal life is golf. I bet he devotes all of his time to practice and winning tournaments in 2010. Him winning a major will also help bring him back to where he was in the eyes of the public, and I think he will do everything he possibly can to do this.
-
My guess: If he gets a divorce, he'll be in the Masters. If he does not get a divorce, he'll be back for the US Open.

This, now.
When this story initially broke, I thought, "he'll miss a few tourneys, but still play in a decent amount and definitely in all the Majors." But, with bitches crawlin' out the woodwork, day in, day out, this story isn't going away in a month. It's only going to get worse as more and more details emerge.
That's why I think at this point, he might just shitcan the whole season.
It's the PGA's wet dream/worst nightmare. The rest of the field is doing a group chest bump that they won't have Tiger to deal with on the weekends, while the Association is shitting themselves because they won't have Tiger to deal with on the weekends. -
Yeah I know what he said, but that's just posturing. He doesn't want to give a specific tournament he will be back for after the whole "injury" keeping him from playing at his own tournament a couple weeks ago. So it's just easier to say he will take an indefinite break, meaning he can come back if he feels like it or sit out. Either way he doesn't have to answer any questions about if he'll be in this or that tournament. I can't see him sitting out 12 months just to let this thing blow over. Plus, he doesn't need to work on being a husband now that his wife is divorcing him.

As I said, he will have nothing else going for him anytime soon with the public unless he starts winning tournaments again. If he doesn't play this year than what's to stop him from ever coming back? Do you think he's just going to retire from golf because of this scandal? -
I think you're drastically underestimating the state he's in right now. He isn't just embarrassed and afraid to face the media -- his entire life was just flipped upside down. His wife hates him. His kids are being taken away from him. The media hates him. His life will be committed to getting these things back. He isn't going to be just sitting around waiting for things to "blow over," he has to actively work to get his life back on track, which is why he's stepping away from golf.
Do I think he's going to retire? No. What I think is that it is going to take a while, perhaps the entire year, for him to get his life back to where he is in control, and only then will he be in control of golf as well -- which is the only way he will return -- if he's in control. -
With everything going on and some of the more obvious will go on I have a very hard time seeing him by the Masters. With all the pulling factors on him I just don't see him getting near enough time for the focus he wants, especially for a major.
This situation is going to get worse before it gets better, he has not hit the bottom yet.
While he is wealthy beyond normal imaginations his image has taken a massive hit and I am not sure how much he can recover. I totally believe he will never be the face of companies that he once was, ever. One thing Tiger is NOT adjusted to and does not deal well with is losing, no matter what that is at. Tiger is about to take his worst ass pounding EVER, this will be a loss that will devastate even him.
I definitely don't see him playing the Masters and if he somehow does not work in a tournie or two before the US Open then I consider him 100% gone for 2010. There is no way possible his first major will the The Open Championship, again just a gut feeling. -
Becauuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse he didn't do that before this shitstorm?

I think you're grossly underestimating the effect that this is having on his life. Despite what people want to believe, he is human. If nothing else, I think this situation has proven that much. -
the masters is 4 1/2 months away, im sure he will play. hes taking a break in the winter when no major golf tourneys are being played. i dont think he plays any golf tourneys this time of year, any year so its not that big of a deal.
plus hes gonna get a divorce and be a free man so he shouldnt have anything to worry about. -
If I was a betting man (and I am) my money is on Tiger to play the Masters. I really think the most important thing in Tiger's life is his number of major wins. He isn't going to skip one without injury being involved (I really wonder if he had a family tragedy if he would miss).
My guess right now is that he'll wait until February, by then things will cool down, and everyone will be on to the next big story (New Years is almost guaranteed to bring in something new). Then, Tiger will play 1-2 small events, get all the media pressure out of the way, and then go to the Masters focused on winning it.
