Windows update crash

    This happened to my wifes computer. Crashed it like a bad virus. Well one of my best friends just called and said same thing just happened to him. Windows automatic update and now he can't even start it in safe mode. Windows wants to charge him to fix it. Seems 100% wrong to me.

    Has this happened to any of you? Any suggestions for fixing it? My buddies dead broke. I googled it and it seems like it's happening to people a LOT. How can MSFT break your computer and then charge you to fix it?

    Happened to me a while back. If you are in the middle of an auto update and shut your computer down, bad things happen. Had to format and start over :(

    lol yea since the update my comp has been crashing sporadically never did that before unless i was really fucking with it. Thought i just picked up a virus after a couple multitable porn sessions. least i can go play in linux if i want

    My buddy didn't shut off his computer, but windows update automatically restarts when it's done.

    Is he by any chance on Vista?

    Mine did the same thing a month or so ago, I quit installing the damn updates
