    Looks like Detroit Red Wings against Toronto Maple Leafs in Ann Arbor. 110,000 seats. This would be sic please let this happen.

    Dont understand how illitch let this happen. Honestly this is a horrible business move on his end. Owning both the wings and the tigers it seems like it would be smartest to have this happen at comerica where you can have $7 hot dogs and $8.75 beers. I just dont see why they put this in the big house. Can they even serve beer?

    Dont get me wrong, ill be going and im sure it will be a blast like the big chill was at michigan stadium. But it just doesnt add up to me from a dollars and cents stand point

    hhhmmmm 25-30k in attendance at Comerica vs. 110k in attendance at the Bog House? What's not to understand? Not sure how much say Iklitch would have anyway, as I think the Winter Classic is an NHL production, rather than the teams involved.

    For example...

    If the NHL charged $20 avg ticket price at michigan stadium and sold out 110,000 (give or take a few) they would need only need to charge $53 a ticket at Comerica to solicit the same revenue.

    Now with recent surges in winter classic ticket prices and the demand high, if they held the event at Comerica and sold out the 41,000 seats with an avg ticket price of $150 (which is totally doable) then the NHL would have to sell out michigan stadium with an avg ticket price of $56. Not sure they could sell out michigan stadium with that.

    That combined with the loss of high priced beer sales and other revenue around comerica park makes this an odd decision by both illitch and the NHL.

    The Big House makes this game a much bigger spectacle, which makes people talk about the NHL more, which is exactly what the NHL wants. I doubt being able to sell beer in the stadium (not sure if they can or not) is very important in the grand scheme of things.

    Yesterday they said that there would probably be a second rink at Comerica and have a bunch of the side things there.
