@Real_ESPNLeBrun FYI source at True North in Winnipeg just told me deal is NOT done yet with Thrashers. Talks continue.
@ESPN_Burnside Multiple sources tell ESPN.com no deal done to sell/move Atlanta Thrashers
did u just jinx an entire city -
Congrats! I would love to see the NHL cut 4 teams, move three more teams to Canada, and have 10 Canadian, 16 American. Also, cut the season to 60 games. More Canadian hockey teams = more gooder.
-
Bring back the old Jets sweaters and I'm all for it.
Hope it's not jinxed now.... -
What 4 teams do you wanna see cut and what 3 are you moving?

Cut: Panthers, Blue Jackets, Islanders (could fall in both categories), ______
Move: Coyotes, ______, _______, _______ -
dont really follow hockey, and not stunned, but surprised by this kinda thing. youd think youd hear about phx moving first. send them both to the great north, imo.
-
Meh...Columbus isn't the best hockey market but Cleavland and Cincinnati couldn't get it together. The Isles won't go anywhere. They will just continue sucking. I wouldn't cut any of the current teams...just relocate. Atlanta, Florida, Phoenix, Nashville, and maybe Carolina can move. (i know i just annihilated the South East division but....fuck'em). Cities that need an NHL team? Seattle, maybe Baltimore. Green Bay seems like it would have a good market for a team. Hamilton or Quebec

i opened this thread only to see the similar threads at the bottom. wooooo! had to be original, but it wasnt.
-
Congrats Winnipeg - I hope they can somehow get Selanne in a Jets uniform once again. That would be so fucking sick.
-
I was just trying to follow the model that was suggested. I think they would be more inclined to give KC a team over GB. I agree though with not wanting to contract any teams. I'd take Nashville and Carolina off the list though. The Preds had a home attendance rate of 94.3% and the Canes had an 87.6% rate. The botom 4 of the league were: Isles 67.9%, Coyotes 71.2%, Thrashers 72.6%, and CBJ 75.3%. I do like the idea of giving Hamilton a team too.

Islanders have a good young player base - they should move them into the new Barclay Centre when the Nets come, and ship the Devils to Canada somewhere.
-
Didn't the Devils open a new stadium just for them last year? Their attendance rates obviously sucked last year but that'll happen when you have a rough season (granted they pulled it together for a bit) and arguably their best player is on the shelf the entire year.
-
Isles attendance rate will come back when they are a playoff caliber team again. Atlanta could win the cup and only fill three quarters of the seats. I didn't even think of KC...good suggestion. The more I think about it, baltimore probably wouldn't work...too many teams within a 200 mile radius of philly.

now bring back the whale!!!
-
yeaaaaaa lets move the 2nd best franchise of the last 20 years !
-
This one's for you, chancemcc - would be pretty cool to bring her back for opening night.
-
I'm really excited if Winnipeg gets a team back, they are after all the first game I remember watching on tv. What does sadden me is that there's no way for them to become the Jets again. Phoenix still owns the rights to that name and took everything with them to the desert.
I'd be surprised to see Phoenix allow the usage of the Jets logo and records. The only reason Cleveland was able to keep everything for a future franchise was because Baltimore left it for them.
but still
-
How does Dallas draw?
-
Hope you didn't just jinx it. I already find it is moving at light speed as I could understand Phoenix for next year but not Atlanta.
Either way, congrats and don't fuck it up this time.
PS: While we're at it, can we not give Quebec City back a team? They also deserve one. -
Edited By: BigOrangeFan May 20th, 2011 at 05:53 PMBlonde, I know you were just kinda throwing it out there, but you have no clue how popular the Predators are in Nashville and the rest of Middle Tennessee. No way they should be moved.Originally Posted by Mr. Blonde

Cut: Panthers, Blue Jackets, Islanders or Devils (don't need 3 teams in market), Ducks* (don't need 2 teams in market)
Edited By: Magnet Steve May 20th, 2011 at 08:52 PM
Move: Coyotes, Thrashers, Lightning, Hurricanes
(You could also merge Islanders/Devils if you want to preserve history, but not necessary).
Canadian teams in Winnipeg, Quebec City, Hamiliton... not sure about 4th location, could compromise and move Canes back to Hartford.
*Edit: Ducks, not Kings. Attendance numbers seal it. -
The amount of ignorance and wrong information in this thread astounds me.
Oh and fuck all of you saying to move the Coyotes....... -
Lol at ignorance. Out've 30 teams Islanders are 30th in attendance, Coyotes are 29th, Thrashers are 28th and BLue Jackets are 27th. Round that out with Ducks at 26th and and Devils at 25th I guess.

Keep the Yotes in PHX with a stable owner
Get the Jackets the Fuck outta columbus it really hurts not being named the buckeyes
Florida panthers are just LOL
Islanders should go DIAGF ( I strongly feel had they not won 4 cups they'd be gone long ago)
Biggest issue for the jets back in the day was the 60 cent dollar now that the US dollar is worth less than Loonie its a no brainer. Although I do feel the owners ill do same thing all other canucks teams do is price it out of market for most true fans
