  1. For a very long time.

With London 2012 coming up soon, i was looking at the records and how long they have been here, some of them are amazing and have been here a long time.

The discus record held since june 86, hammer throw august 86, but the one record that astonishes me is the mens long jump. Two people have held this record since october 1968 , 44 years thats incredible.Question is will this be beaten this century. in 1994 the worlds best jump was 8.74 same again in 2009 thats the closest ever since. Were Beamens and Powells efforts freak jumps, neither jumped anything like that length again after breaking there records.

  2. Least gold medals by a host country
  3. Biggest percent increase in toothpaste in a city from previous month

  4. I don't think I will ever see a white man win the 100m dash.

That would be a safe bet.

Canada holds that record and it will never be broken
  10. if phelps wins a few more gold medals his total gold medal record may never be broken
  11. Until the next great swimmer comes along and the IOC has added 20 new swimming events to win medals in, which is quite possible.

the problem isn't that there aren't enough events, it's the timing of it all. Phelps had to drop one of his events for London because he didn't think he could recover fast (and he wouldn't have been the favorite in that event anyways). so i guess if they extended the amount of days where they are swimming maybe someone could do it.

This. Mike is very aware that he can put up a number no one will touch for a loooong time, if ever. I think that's gonna be his motivation and I expect him to crush.
  16. Not a specific record, but I don't think anyone else will ever do this.

Emil Zatopek - 1952 Olympics, wins the gold medal in the 5,000 meter, 10,000 meter and marathon races.

Exactly. Medals have be devalued somewhat
  18. since the title is World Records, Sergey Bubka's pole vaulter mark won't be matched. Don't think he owns the Olympic Record, so that could be bested.

especially swimming, there are so many different events. Sure Phelps having all those Gold Medals is impressive but NO ONE in any other discipline can break it because of a lack of events.

You could be the greatest Olympic wrestler of all time, dominate every match for 6 different Olympics, and still have only a fraction of the medals Phelps does.
  20. I was a fan of Phelps until it came out that he abuses drugs. Everybody makes poor decisions but can't have the same amount of respect for him after that.

  23. Most NBA teams that Dwight Howard is rumored to be traded to... this one has to be a record.
