  1. Couple years ago I watch a mon night fball game with the bills (TO year) vs the pats. Drank a 30 with my roommate and woke up with a migrane and a half, thought it was just a horrible hangovers....I ended up not being able to sleep, not able to eat and having a full blown migrane for the entire week..ended up going to the ER that friday. Tests were done, bitches (nurses) came back and ended throwing a spinal tap in there. They left the room, and came back full gown with gloves and a mask. I got quarantined into a room, I had viral meningitis.. after intervals of oxy and dillauded (sp) I got out of there, def scariest moment of my life (especially since I was 600miles from family).

That's me, who else has some dangerous diseases? I know the obvious answer and hope it gets deleted.

I made this thread as I have a couple of the same symptoms as I did then...hoping it just passes but honestly can't move my head to look upwards as its a huge pain in the ass
  2. No disease but had my eardrum literally blow out blood and puss pouring out of it. I could barely function. Standing was tought and the pain was insane. Imagine a red hot ice pick stuck in your ear til it punctures the drum and you have an idea. Glad I got codeine for it.
  3. i've had food poisoning that lasted about 3 days, but thats about it nothing really serious at all
  4. I had gangrene in my stomach from a blown appendix that for 5 days. Idiot me dealt with the pain.

Well had surgery and then a 104 temperature for 3 str8 days. Temperature broke on the 4th day and i was released the next day. Had a tube stuck up me to suck out the poison.

Talked to doctor a year later and he said that on the 3rd day the doctors gave me a 50/50 chance to live. He said that if the temperature had not broken on the 4th day than my body would of shut down and i would of most likely died.

Had a few close calls like this and its helped shaped my outlook on life.
  5. WTF is a 30?

    My worst disease was mono.

Please stay in Jersey if you have viral meningitis...don't come into Philly and give Cliff Lee or anybody that shit at the end of September.
  6. I had whooping cough when I was around 18 or so. Was really sick for about a week or 2 but the effects lingered on for far longer than that. Basically your entire day is spent breathing in medication either thru and inhaler or special steam apparatus every 30 minutes or so, and in between I would cough non-stop. They call it whooping cough because you cough until your air passageways or whatever clog up, which results in you gasping for air. It feels like you're drowning without water, literally the worst feeling I've ever encountered. The only way to make it stop was to calm down, relax and allow your lungs to slowly take in air again, but this happened after about 10 seconds which always felt like 10 minutes. Cough until there's no air left in your lungs then gasp for air repeatedly which doesn't come until you calm down, but it hard to remain calm when you can't fucking breathe. Oh ya this would occur anywhere from 5-10+ TIMES A DAY EVERY DAY. Worst fucking feeling ever knowing you're surrounded by oxygen that you need to survive and your own body is the only thing keeping you from getting it.

  7. my sister almost died from meningitis, she was in intensive care for 2 months. was really crazy, if she would have died, her last words to me would have been, i'm really sick, please don't leave.... that woulda been fucked up

this isnt really in-line with the OP, but pluvs post reminded me of it, i fell down a well and hit my shin really hard, it got swollen and I ignored it for a good week, then stood up and just collapsed because my leg was entirely numb, took my sock off and my foot was nearly black.. went to hospital and was told I was likely going to have to have it amputated. was in the hospital for several days getting the infection taken care of
  8. is this a thread about giving me sympathy? every poster above me is a pussy, no wonder you get sick
  9. I've had bronchitis a few times.

  11. I had a disease called Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP) when I was 13-15. It basically means I had an extremely low platelet (the shit that clots your blood) count. At one point it was 1% of normal values. The Idiopathic part means they have no idea how you get it.
So basically for almost two years I was in constant danger of dying of internal bleeding, while getting tons of bruises. I couldn't play contact sports (my doctor didn't even want me running cross-country b/c I might get knocked down), getting in a car accident could have been way more deadly than normal, etc. I tried different treatments to temporarily increase my clotting abilities, but none were sustainable so eventually I had my spleen removed, which somehow usually helps this. And for me, luckily, it did. So now I am spleenless, but have plenty of platelets :).

  17. Mono.

I coughed up a piece of the flesh from the back of my throat.
  18. August of 2008 I caught the swine flu that was sweeping all of Asia. Fun times! Lost 6 kilos in 8 days, no sleep, no eating, no drinking. I'm glad guns are illegal here because I really wanted to fkn kill myself.

  19. Seriously, I'm joking I'm just sayin..............................

  20. had tonsillitis on a sailboat while stuck on a 5 day sail in Australia. Not a terrible illness, but insanely terrible when stuck in the open sea, unable to swallow, and barely breathe with no meds....
  21. my mom had viral spiral meningitis. when it was at its worst she didnt even recognize me. that was scary

ive like never been seriously sick. i used to throw up almost everyday (made a thread about it once) but thats bout it.

Same thing happened to me when i was 11. I didnt tell anyone about my pain because i wanted to play in my state baseball tournament so bad. After it finally exploded there was a ~4 hour window where i felt ok. Happened to be the same time we were traveling up to my games. Got up to the fields and i was basically dying again. Got back home 6 hours later and Willywoo and Mrs Willywoo freaked out a bit and rushed me to the hospital. I guess the gangrene was almost up to my heart which would kill me. Spent a terrible 6 days in the hospital.

  23. "6 days in the hospital" omg nooooooo j/k

    Biased obv
  24. The most suffering I've had to gone through was when I had cholera at the age of 8 or 9. Constant diarrhea and puking for about a week, at least 10 times a day. That's not even counting the high fever and dehydration.

Have also had tuberculosis but I was 2 y/o then so dont remember jack shit.

lolz i was thinking the same thing, like the beginning of the story should of said something like "prior to the onset of the Spanish-American war......."
  30. When I was like 6 months old they thought I had meningitis. They did the test with the epidural and somehow lost the sample so I had to get treated for meningitis even though they didn't know if I had it because my parents couldn't handle me having a second shot in my spine.

When I was 4 I had double pneumonia (in both lungs) for 4 weeks.

Up until my MOM was able to catch it on a cat scan when I was 6, I had a brain tumor. Every 3 weeks to the day for the first 6 years of my life I would get 102 fever and swollen glands. I also got headaches on a daily basis as you can imagine.

I got chicken pox while recovering from my brain surgery in the hospital lol.

I haven't been sick like that since, but I remember when I was a kid I often had to miss things due to my constant fevers, and I would cry because I had to miss friends birthday parties and stuff, the sick part didn't really bother me. Nowadays, when I get sick I feel like I'm gonna die.

Since all of that stuff, I had Mono at 14, and the sickest I've EVER felt was when I was 21 and got Strep for the first time. I had a 104 fever for 6 days, couldn't talk, couldn't move really. I remember feeling so sick that at 21 yrs old I asked my mom to come stay with me (I had my own place about 30 min away). I told her I was thirsty and wanted OJ cuz the vitamin C couldn't hurt. I chugged the cup and then literally puked in my moms hair. I couldn't help it, I felt horrible about it. I never saw it coming it was the first time since I was like 10 I puked. I ended up puking for the entire 6 days I was sick until the antibiotics finally kicked it enough to make me feel better. The worst part of it all was puking with my throat hurting that bad. I have an irrational fear of throwing up all of my life and to combine that with the acids burning the strep every time I puked, physically incapable of standing up because moving hurt, and my entire body aching, that was the sickest I've ever felt by far.
