It seems as though Interactive TV may be the next big thing. Already, on some commercials, you can auto-set a DVR series recording or go to a longer info commercial. Someday soon, you may even get customized content to your TV. So, would you subscribe to this service?
Each commercial that pops up, you have the option to "Like" it. Like it for whatever reason: you like the product, you think it's funny, you like the way it's shot, whatever. You tell the reason why when you like it. Two clicks, maybe a scroll.
For every three commercials you like, you can "ban" a specific commercial from ever broadcasting to your TV again. You will get more commercials like the one you "Like" instead.
The service is free, and the information is anonymously sent to advertisers (demographics only), but the cable company retains it. Privacy policy, etc.
What say you, OT? -
I wouldn't mind being able to ban certain commercials (bye bye, Flo) but liking commercials and then explaining why seems beyond tedious.
Also, I don't get how this works...its clearly not something for DVR'ed TV because then I'm just zapping through all the commercials anyway...but it can't possibly be for live TV...I'm confused. -
Please don't tell me they're going to be forcing me to watch commercials on my DVR'd shows instead of being able to fast forward through them (a la watching stuff on Hulu).
