  1. If this gets me nominated for the Plattsburg award oh well.

    WWOTD?

My local post office refuses to deliver packages to my house. WTF can I do? First of all I don't know when it became common process for UPS to hand off mid shipment to the USPS, but its total bullshit that it happens. Anyway, last Christmas I had a package go mia. A few days after xmas I called the post office and they said they had it there and I needed to bring ID to pick it up. w/e, i figure nbd. It happened again a few months later, this time they said no one was home...which is bullshit. We had 5 people living in this house over the summer, none of which had a job, and someone was ALWAYS home.

Two months ago I was tracking a package and it said out for delivery. I was doing yard work waiting for the mailman and he pulled up just as my kids got off the bus. I saw him hand my daughter 1 envelope and no packages. I yelled as loud as I could as he drove off and luckily he heard me and stopped. i explained I was supposed to get a package. He got out and checked in the back of the car and found 2 packages for me with a pre written note on one saying "we tried to contact you please pick up your package at the post office". I was like dude you weren't even going to try. He played it off like he forgot it was back there.

Today I checked the tracking number for the Kindle I ordered and it said out for delivery. So instead of finishing up my xmas shopping I figured I'd wait for the package so it didn't sit out in the rain. Plus I was just excited to play with the kindle. I checked it again a few hours later and get this:

Dover, DE, United States 12/21/2011 10:44 A.M. Post office attempted delivery and left a delivery notice at the location. Contact post office per delivery notice.

12/21/2011 8:02 A.M. Package is out for delivery with the USPS
12/20/2011 4:27 P.M. Received by the local post office
12/20/2011 11:37 A.M. Package transferred to post office
    12/20/2011 7:28 A.M. Destination Scan

First of all my mail doesn't get here till 3:00PM. So how was this message entered at 10:44 A.M.
2nd, there is no god damn notice.

This is a recurring theme with these lazy assholes. I mean do your fucking job. how should I handle this?

FTR its been 3 different people over 4 separate occasions so its not like one person can be held responsible

  2. at least they dont get paid that well.................
  3. Call manager and complain. Or i.e.d.
  4. I absolutely despise USPS...surprised you even got the tracking to work on your package.

I'm not sure what I'd do tbh...if you call 1-800-ASK-USPS, you get some uneducated nitwit who has no idea what they're doing...all they'll do is read your 400 digit tracking number back to you, then put you on hold for 45 minutes, then come back and tell you that somebody from your local post office will be in touch with you. Nobody from your local post office will ever call, so you start the entire process over.

I do know that I've had to call our local post office on a few issues, and if I keep demanding to talk to a manager, I'll eventually get to somebody who has enough rank to do something. Our problems are business-related, tho...and we're probably the post office's biggest account in my city/town.

So I guess maybe call the local post office and demand to speak to a manager...bitch her out and tell her that it's unacceptable that her drivers won't deliver to your house.

Do you have a dog that's out all the time or anything like that?? I've heard of instances where they won't deliver because of something like that...but I don't get it.
  5. Move...

    J/k...

USPS is an absolute joke. I had a similar thing happen to me in the spring. I won an item off eBay and it kept saying attempted delivery on the online tracking site but they weren't leaving me any notices or anything. I kept calling the post office, talking to my mail man, etc etc. After I finally gave up ever seeing the package I talked to a new mail man and he came through and it arrived the next day.

I would imagine this happens to a lot of people as they just seem to not give a shit.

you would think that means it's going out of business soon. oh wait...
  8. Just be thankful they aren't doing this with your packages instead.

  9. Perhaps its b/c you live in a swamp.

  10. Last I heard the USPS is 8 billion in the red, with the threat of 30,000 layoffs, and thousands of post offices closing, so I'm not surprised you're having this issue.

Came to post this; anytime you deal with USPS you risk it all.
  12. lol
  13. PM Lizardboys mom she has a knack for this kind of thing
  14. Lazy postal workers folks........I absolutely despise having to do anything involving interacting with most postal workers as they all seem to big the biggest assholes on the planet. Wish they would just overhaul the entire thing and go to delivery three times a week or just shut the fucker down and give all of the mail business to UPS, FedEx, and DHL.

  15. Rub icy hot on their balls?
  16. It sounds like you've got a crappy mail person, followed by some poorly trained subs. I would call the postmaster and ask what's going on. They will know if there is an issue with your property causing packages not to be delivered. It's true that if there is a dog that they feel is dangerous or some feature that might make it unsafe that they won't deliver. Also mention the packages with the pre-written note.

More likely, you've got a lazy driver that scans stuff when they leave the post office (not supposed to do that) and they've probably told their sub drivers to do the same thing. The no notice thing is a joke. They should be leaving a note with your mail letting you know you have a package at the post office.

Try the postmaster, if that doesn't work, then try to contact the driver's union. Is it a city route or a rural route?
  17. go postal on them, ldo
  18. Occupy the post office
  19. I wont order shit from an ebay seller or any online merchant that only ships via USPS and will gladly pay the extra $5-10 to have things sent via UPS or FedEx.
  20. This is common pratice in BFE, move.

  21. Sick brag about having a lawn
  22. On the phone with this joke of a company right now...they picked a package up on the 13th, and it hasn't moved since.

Talked to first CSR, gave her the 35-digit "label number", listened to her dumbass read it back to me, heard her stumble over the exact same info I just told her, and had her transfer me to "somebody who could help get a case started".

Been on hold for 15 minutes now waiting for this mysterious "person who can help get a case started."

If you are answering the customer service phone and can't get an investigation started on a missing package, what exactly are you there for? Piece of shit company...

  23. Are these anecdotal personal experiences characteristic of the entire USPS or are they isolated examples from a small sample size? I tend to think the USPS is not as efficient as well run private businesses like UPS, Fed Ex or DHL, because it does not have to compete and earn its business, among other things. What I do not understand is that some people do not understand the principals at play here apply everywhere no matter how complicated a society or its issues are. It's basic stuff and will not change. The question, aside from Constitutional issues, is how much efficiency are we willing to sacrifice in order to have a government run or controlled program that purports to benefit society as a whole.

As for OP, I say set aside a full day and go down to the post office in person early in the morning and get an audience in front of the person in charge. Make sure you take all of your evidence of failing to deliver packages with you so you can lay it our for this person in a logical and persuasive manner. The be prepared to do it again in a few months. Good luck. Or you could just get a PO Box and go pick up your mail/packages.
  24. Oh, forgot this one - I was at the Post Office a couple of weeks ago to send some Certified Letters; I get to the lady, and she tells me since I left the little stub part that you keep for your records in the office, that I'd have to re-do all of them. Apparently, they have to stamp that part that you keep or something - not sure why they can't just stamp the receipt and put the tracking number on it, but ok, that's the rules. So I fill out all new forms there, and go back over to her - I give her my credit card, and she asks for ID - hand her my license. She starts staring a hole in the back of the CC, and I'm just thinking 'what now'. Apparently, where you sign the back of your card became worn, and the signature was barely visible. So she goes "oh, I can't accept this - the card's not signed". Never mind the fact that my ID matches the name on the CC, and the address matches the return address on my Certified mail. I tell her, ok, you have my picture ID, the names and addresses match - let me just sign my card again. From the 1st word out of my mouth she was doing the head shake - not even listening to a single word. The response? "oh, I can't accept this". Never saw someone so satisfied with herself.

So I said ok, took my mail off the counter, walked to the other side of the Post Office where there were more tellers, handed the guy my mail and CC, and was processed and out the door less than 2 minutes later. Walked past her side as I was leaving, held out my stamped receipts, grinned, and nodded my head. I'm sure she took it out on the next poor schmuck that got stuck with her.

    Fuck the post office.
  25. I would call your local postmaster and complain an I would do that as many times as it takes.
  26. SJCX is a mail carrier (seriously)....ask him if this shit goes on.

  27. You guys should try to receive some packages in china. They get pilfered through and stolen from freely. And they arrive around 5-6 weeks after being sent. I still want to know what Chinese customs motherfucker ate all the skittles from the care package my mom sent me all those years ago. Those goddamned skittles were mine ffs.

Definitely the bolded. I've been dealing with them for ~6 years at my current job, and I can remember maybe ONE good experience with their customer service. It's almost as if they try to be as awful as possible, so you will eventually just give up on your problem. It honestly feels like that.

And your last sentence in the above quote is exactly why.
