    Basically what the title says. I live in 3rd floor of 4 floor apt builidng (its pretty big, 50 apts total). I don't smoke but don't have anything really against pot smokers as long as their smoking doesn't interfere with my life. However I am allergic to all types of smoke and also think pot smoke smells disgusting and distracting.

    Every night for the last week or so my apartment starts smelling like pot faint at first then stronger. After 20 minutes or so it smells just like when you walk into someone's room who had finished smoking a few minutes prior. I thought it might be coming in from the windows but they are tight, so it might be coming up through the floor or from the ceiling. I have a pretty new next door neighbor but can't smell anything outside her door, which is like 2 feet from mine.

    Tonight I finally got my apartment back to smelling like normal two hours later and they lit up again.

    So what would you do OT? Ignoring it isn't really an option.

    Go talk to them and let them know it's bothering you and the smoke/smell is going into your apartment.

    Serious note: Go and talk to them if it really bothers you that much, however sounds like your overeacting. If you hate the smell so much go to a bed bath and beyond and buy sometihng for you that smells really pretty!

    Heh, don't live in Ithaca anymore but yeah you can't spell Ithaca without THC.

    I don't really think I'm overreacting. Its strong enough that I constantly am aware of it while they are smoking. Its just a nasty, thick smell that sits in your nose and won't leave. I don't own any smelly candles but I doubt it would be covered up by a candle or something. Note for potheads: If you burn a candle or incense after you smoke it doesn't fool anyone. Just smells like vanilla pot now.

    I'd guess there is a good chance if you go down to their apartment, they tell you to go fuck yourself.

    Speak to your Landlord? Thats what they are for if you dont want to do the dirty work yourself. If your willing to move, easy way out of a lease if the LL doesnt take care of it.

    Sounds like the OP doesnt know for sure yet where it is coming from. Thats a problem. What if it was cigarette smoke? Would you go and tell the guy that his cigarette smoke is bothering you and that your allergic? Or would you move?

    People are crazy nowadays...who knows what type of person this is. I understand why you would not want to confront people these days. If it goes wrong, he knows where you live. The manager shouldnt rat you out thoe.. But if i was the stoner that was fuckin up your shit, I would appreciate you telling me that you can smell it. Sometimes the stoners dont know that you can smell it. Making him aware of it could help the situation and he may try harder to hide it and may increase his paranoia lol.

    Cig smoke is also nasty but I'd rather smell that than weed. And to me, it is disgusting. Just cause you like the smell of your farts don't mean it isn't disgusting to someone else. Unless you are a girl and your farts smell like cinnamon buns and rainbows.

    Ok cocksucker. Obviously, a person shouldn't take legal advice on an internet forum, and one should always consult with someone who practices in the area and is fimilar with the state they have an issue in. A health issue, as stated by OP is a vaild reason to break a lease.
