Xbox 360 live question

    The last time I really did any gaming was on PS2...

    I have to hook up some xbox 360 live consoles with 1 year gold packages for work(I will be travelling for 6 months on the West coast and they will be part of our display with hi speed connections)... I hooked up the system to a nice 60+" tv and was playing it today to test it out (some racing game). I gave the credit card for the 12 months, all good.

    I tried to play against live people and I could not get it to work. Is it possible it is a firewall at work? Or do I have to set something up I am not aware of?

    This may not be enough info for some real help, but if you have anything worth saying thanks.
