Xmas family fighting debate

    ok maybe im wrong here but i would like some extra opinions.....we did all of my fiance's and my side of the family christmas gatherings yesterday. 2 on her side 3 on my moms side plus one at my dads. Her nephew who she happens to be the godmother got baptized today at noon after mass.

    well the baptism ran a half hour long then we had to go to a luncheon for an hour after. so my great aunt had xmas for my side of the family and her 4 kids today. We end up being an 1.5 hrs late, not a big deal to me but my mother proceeds to call my fiance of 4 days a bitch in front of some of my family, because her family function took extra time.

    so i call her on the way home and proceed to get in a yelling match how i thought it was unneccessary and inappropriate for her to make comments like that and that she hurt her feelings. Her response is she feels its uncalled for us to show up late to xmas. (remind you its our 4th xmas on just my moms side in 2 days, and we showed up as soon as we could.)

    so who's right or wrong? do i have a right to be upset about this situation?

    Sounds like your mom has other issues with your fiancee than just what happened in that situation. From the information given your mom sounds like a bitch. No need for yelling matches imo. Your fiancee would have every right to say fuck off to the next gathering.

    the only other issue is that my mom thinks that we put the fiances side ahead of mine which we dont everything is done equal at every holiday etc.....and who knows why the fuck we have 3 family gatherings, we do my cousins aunts and uncles on xmas morning, my moms xmas eve (which half of the xmas morning people come to) and then with my 2nd cousins today. I might just start going away on xmas and say fuck it all and not deal w/ it because its more of a hassel every year. My family is rediculous lol

    You're obviously in the right in this situation. Unfortunately, arguing with a woman, in this case your mom, is a dead end scenario. They're always right, you are always wrong (it's just the way they see the world). Just accept that and be proud that your fiance kept it classy.

    yeah, kinda out of line for a mom (maybe i just have an understanding mom-she's happy if i call on christmas), skip her house next year and maybe she'll realize that

    and i dunno if some people ever had a serious relationship at christmas time.

    we had to go to 5 gatherings between christmas and christmas eve. my moms side of the family, my dads side(my aunts/uncles exchange gifts and my baby got some and all the families get something for my grandparents also grab bag at moms side), just my immediate family where we do our gifts to one another. and my gf's moms' side where they do a secret santa and just my gf;s immediate family.

    This is why my family stopped doing the 3-5 different family gatherings every year. Competition, arguments - just too much of a pain in the ass. So now it's immediate family only. No visiting cousins or aunts/uncles.
