I know I know, baby steps. My holiday is already ruined. Im waiting for the resigning of Nick Johnson and David Wells to complete my year.
-
Your holiday was dependent on the Yankees signing a 32 year old to a 7 year contract? lol I shouldn't even be surprised

eh whatever on the signing. about as big a deal as when they claimed Sergio Mitre a few years ago, hopefully he turns out decently like Mitre -
Be in more denial plz

Read my posts in the offseason thread, I was saying it before he signed. Hurts the Yankees big time for the short-term, but that contract would become an awful one. Not happy about losing on Lee, but certainly ain't gonna whine over not signing a 32yr old to a 7yr deal who already had back problems last season.
-
Still plenty of time left. However im not pleased with this possible 5-man rotation as a whole.

Sabathia

Mitre
Nova
Then again the Yankees are bound to pick up something. Oh yeah it was obv Nyy684 replied me. He's my secret stalker. -
Damn! I knew the Yankee's would make some big noise before it was all said and done. Yankee fans must be ecstatic! If they get Dennis Eckersley too the Sox are done.

What is Prior's current velocity?

threeve

a combination of three and five -
Pray that Pettitte comes back, Hughes develops some consistency in his second full year as a starter, and Burnett bounces back. Cause that's about there only hope. There's not much out there atm, unless of course you want another round with Pavano...

I love the Sox and LOATHE the Yankee's but I am not buying into that the failed acquisition of Lee is the end for the Yankees. Is this how their lineup plays out so far? Not necessarily in this order but with their rotation and lineup they still look good to me.
Jeter
Swisher
Tex
ARod
Cano
Posada
Granderson
Montero
Gardner -

Montero plays for Arizona

yankees signed Russell Martin to be catcher today, but very injury prone and cant hit -
lol yankees

I'm sure the Yankees pitching staff is gonna love Rothschild's towel drill in the bullpen

I remember when Prior was on the Cubs about 7 years ago, and I was listening to the radio (Mac, Yurko, and Harry?) and they were saying how being around Mark was as "enjoyable as a car wreck". Wonder if he's still a dick face.

Do you think everyone should stick fork in the Yankees due to the inability to sign Lee? I think this whole scenario is overblown.
-
Nah not yet. It'll hurt them the next year or two, but long term they're better off. Assuming Pettitte doesn't retire, CC-Pettitte-Hughes is not suck a bad top 3. Not great, but it can compete with the Sox. Hughes should be more consistent this year too, since last year was his first year putting up a large amount of innings, likely had a big role in his second half struggles. And Burnett can't get any worse lol. Who knows what they'll get from Nova or whoever opens as the #5 starter. Their bullpen and lineup are still strong, so they should still have a pretty competitive team. ALCS team last year, same team plus Montero, so could be worse. Now if Pettitte retires, that will be a bigger deal than not getting Lee imo.

With a little bit of luck, Andrew Brackman may be able to contribute in the starting rotation in the second half as well. -
Fuck the Yankees!

This thread literally made me lol

baseball is only a notch above soccer, but still two notches below FAG.
-
if prior can regain his 2003 form the yanks should be really good.
-
I think he's just a relief pitcher now.
If Pettitte comes back, they're fine. Red Sox are clear favorites, but it's not a big difference. This team won 95 games last year. If Pettitte retires and they blow up the farm system in a trade for Nolasco then I will panic. -
Its probably too late now, but moving Joba to the bullpen was really, really dumb. He didn't have a great 2009 as a starter, but for someone who's 23 making his first full year of starts? Not bad at all. He's certainly a better option than Burnett, Nova, and Mitre, right?
