  1. So I got some golf lessons for my birthday last year and am finally getting around to using them. It's a city course, and the instructor is "PGA director of instruction" and "Class A PGA member" if that's important.

For reference, the cost is six 30min lessons for 230 bucks. What's the tipping expectation, if any? A google search didn't bring up much, but what I did find mostly said "no tip necessary" but those seemed like they were from questionable sources.

    help?
  2. no tip
  3. at $76/hr, it doesn't sound like he's living off of tips. I've never tipped a golf pro I got lessons from - but I have taken 2 out of 3 for beers as a thank you, so if the guy isn't a douche, I'm sure that's an appropriate tip.

    this sounds good.
  5. You don't need to tip your golf pro for lessons. This would be like tipping your doctor, lawyer, accountant, etc...
  6. Golf pros don't get tips. If someone cleans your clubs and/or shoes, you can tip them. But you don't tip anyone for lessons.

  7. If i am not mistaking the pro gets the fee, beers sounds cool
  8. There are better things to do than play golf when you are tripping, there are worse too but do something else less structured imo, you'll have more fun.
  9. PGA member is a plus for sure. People tip me usually after a lesson but it really depends on the kinda course from what I have seen and heard.
  10. I've taken lessons before and been around the golf world a long time, including a couple close friends who are teachers and I've never heard of tipping going on.
  11. Cool, thanks for all the advice fellas. I just had no clue... I'll probably invite him for a couple beers.

  12. I've never tipped or heard of anyone tipping for golf lessons.
  13. Do not tip him....I'm glad you asked though.
  14. Do it the Australian way, offer him a drink or some tucker if his a nice bloke.
LOL at even considering tipping a Golf Pro who charges alot for watching you hit balls.
