When playing BJ: that person who thinks if the other people at the table don't play optimally, it hurts their EV.

Like some lady on my right will hit on 13 with a 4 showing, she busts when she gets a face card, I stay, and the person to my left, showing 11, starts berating the table fish, saying that was "their" card. I've even heard some people claim that it hurts their EV, saying that if the whole table plays well, they will get better cards.

Yesterday, tourney at a local room. Not a big deal but two regulars, one who limps from MP, the other in the BB and are the only two in the hand.

BB checks, MP checks
BB checks and announces he'll just check it down, MP says fine.
BB checks rivers, and shows his hand before MP acts, MP just turns up his hand and announces nuts (KQ on AxxJT board, no flush). Dealer pushes pot to MP.

I casually say something about checking the nuts (which is against the rules). Dealer, who knows both of these guys, says that it's no big deal since they both agreed to check it down.

Then 10 minutes later, I'm checking scores on my cell phone and place phone face down on the edge of the table (not touching the felt) and the dealer says I need to keep my phone off the table.

Basically, locals who get to bend the rules and everyone else who doesn't.

That's because the 'no checking the nuts' rule only applies in tournaments ya tard. Its common for friends to check down hands in cash games
