  1. been listening a lot of them lately. so many great songs. post your favorite

  2. John Bonham is the greatest.

  3. They are a poor man's Rush which is a huge compliment to any band (to be in the same sentence as the greatest band).

Some of my favorites are Nobody's Fault but Mine, Achilles Last Stand, What is and what should never be, When the Levee Breaks, Going to california

that's doing them a huge disservice.

do you realize how innovative LZ was? they were one of the most talented bands to ever work together and they made music like this^^^

it takes an incredible amount of vision and just huge balls to do what they did.

I like rush but come on...
  7. like rush too, and i like coolhandkev, but your statement is just not true

    Really?

I respect the hell out of Rush but have never been able to get past Geddy Lee's vocals. I know as a guitar player they are one of the bands I'm supposed to worship but I've tried to get it but they just never grabbed me. I won't change the station if they come on but wouldn't buy a CD or make a huge effort to go see em. To each their own.

The thing is the exact same thing can be said for Rush. Zeppelin has always been the brand name and gets all the recognition from the press and Rush has always been criminally underrated, since their existence. Yet they have survived 40 years. They have constantly challenged their own abilities and pushed themselves to the limit. They are unafraid to write songs that may not be mainstream - perhaps explaining the second sentence above. However if you really look back and study their body of work there is a STRONG argument that they are the better band than Zeppelin. 70's - early 80's Rush is in my opinion the best Rock music ever written and for whatever reason most rock fans can't even name an album other than "Moving Pictures" from that time frame.

The fact is Led Zeppelin is a fantastic band and in terms of influences on other great bands are probably in the same category as the Beatles. I have nothing but respect for them and actually I probably underrate them these days as I've (similar to Metallica as well for myself) probably overexposed myself to them. I think I went a year straight in high school listening to only Master of Puppets and Led Zeppelin IV.

Obviously my first post (about poor mans rush) was exaggerated I just see way more articles about Zeppelin than Rush and I get defensive lol

I can't find the quote from Billy Corgan but he put it very well about this exact topic he said something along the lines of Led Zeppelin's story has been told over and over and they are almost over explained whereas this isn't the case for Rush. However time and time again musicans and fans alike have voted for Rush and support the band, it's inevitable that their story will be told someday and they will be right up there with the greatest bands to ever play.

Geddy's voice in the 70's is pretty bad ass in my opinion. Especially if you like Plant as a vocalist there is zero reason to not like Geddy. In all honestly I hate the keyboard era of Rush (they are still my favorite band even though I hate about a 10 year period of their work) and dislike Geddy's voice on those albums, but listen to the vocals in a song like 2112 (the first part after the 5 minute instrumental intro before the 14 minutes second half to the song lol) they are kick ass.
  12. my personal fav
  13. I can respect that. to be honest your first post about "poor man's rush" made it sound like you didn't have real opinions, like the one's you spelled out above^^ but I can see where you're coming from.

that's why music is so great in the first place. it speaks to everybody differently.
  14. "tea for one" and "no quarter" are 2 of my favorites...if i knew how to post a vid i would...maybe someone else can.
  15. zep rules. but i cannot stand their fanboys. its like every time a zep song comes on their like "shutup, this is the greatest song ever"

its because of these people i cant rate them higher.

oh and rush does pwn souls too, but zep was more mainstream so you cant win the argument.
  16. cant quit you baby, no quarter, i'm gonna crawl, babe i'm gonna leave you, you shook me, dazed and confused, lemon song, since ive been loving you, when the levee breaks, ten years gone, tea for one and pretty much everything else that's been mentioned. the first time i heard zep was a live performance of dazed and confused from '73 and i've been in love ever since.. at the same time I think they(along with the beatles) are two of the most overrated bands of all time. when they're not giving you that psychedelic blues-rock orgasmic madness, they're giving you what I can only describe as extremely corny. *sprays on lynch-mob repellent*
  17. Don't think RUSH have ever been in court for ripping off earlier artists for their work . . . like a certain band mentioned in the OP. I love Led Zeppelin as much as anybody, but they do not stack up against the originality, creativity, and sheer fucking brilliance that is RUSH.
  18. BY FAR

  19. Zeppelin >>>>>>>>>>>>> rush

Zeppelin has never made a bad song, however, while I like rush, they have made plenty
  20. dude rush was better known as an inhalant holy shit lol !

  21. Rush wouldn't exist if it wasn't for Zeppelin, come on.

And to OP, you need to delve a little deeper. Definitely some good songs in the post but there is some much better songs by them

Other than the fact that the two bands formed in the exact same year this is spot on.
  23. Trampled underfoot...one o the best led zep songs ever
