Well at the end of the year I like to take a moment and reflect on my success and opportunities (you could say failures and it would be hard to argue)
So I thought where better to start then the members progression forum. So where am I at? Where did I come from? Sorry its long but I am pretty proud of the journey so far.
Long story short I joined PWN at the end of July after running -80BIs below EV in 6max PLO over three weeks. Made the decision that as much as I love PLO it’s never going to be my full time game and moved away from it. I was left near busto and used almost half of my bankroll to get my first three month subscriptions. I decided to rebuild at NLHE mtts. My overall goal was to learn, and with the volume that I play, I figured if I could land around 10-40% ROI I could turn my small $100 into about $1000 before the New Year where I could find myself in a spot where I would comfortable playing the $5-$10 MTTs. I know monetary goals are bad, but let’s be honest if I could not start to beat the micros after one on one coaching on and off over five months then it was time to play as a hobby.
The first two months I logged a lot of time online, parading the forums trying to soak up as much information as possible. I also watched a good dozen videos and could tell that there was a lot I was missing in the game. Managed to place in a few members games and got some valuable information from EJ (cardsfan04) . Later in September I managed to leverage that information to a nice win in a 4K sniper game at UB for around 1K.
A few more weeks past and I get a session in with Chardrian and we identify some leaks for me to work on. I don’t get in a lot of volume and I actually had a session approaching with Jerry Herschel (Herschelw). So I need to try and put something together for a review. To my surprise I was able to sit down in a tourney and make the top 20 almost because I had to play a game for a review. Needless to say I was excited to see the huge strides that my game has made. Again Hershel was able to point out a few things for me to work on and I was really excited about how far my game has developed. The last week of November I decided to play the $5r on stars and managed to make a three way chop for 4.5K my biggest score to date.
Thanks to PP I am way ahead of my goals for the year end. I have managed to take a measly $100 into 5K in four months. I took the month of December effectively off from poker (maybe played 50+ games over ten days of the month). I managed to stake a good horse that helped me turn in a profit of $500 which I added to the small $500 I made myself. All in all I managed to come out a head 6K since joining pwnage.
Special thanks,
EJ (cardsfan04): the first pwnage pro that I got to spend time with and really help to fill some of the bigger leaks in my game.
Chardrian: Who seems to be a firm believer in my policy of there is no stupid questions just really blunt answers to them. The one who informed me that I need to be looking for more spots to three bet preflop, and force people to play or play back.
Jerry (HerschelW) who helped me understand that I need a better reasons to three bet other then “Well Chardrian said I don’t do it enough so I thought I would do it all the time!”
And of course the entire pwnage pro team who put the time and energy into the videos. From the jam/fold sheets that Tony has put together, the slide shows where Ghetto Fab shows us how to stay calm, collective and find our A game, and all the times where a pro decided to fire up the screen capture before the final table bubble.
