Just me with another gadget..

[/SIZE][/FONT][FONT=Verdana][SIZE=2]A while ago I got sick of logging in and out of sites, and wondering what was coming up where. So I made a flexable tournament database in iCal that would sync to my iPhone and stream the tournaments from the sites and buy-ins I played most. [/SIZE][/FONT]

herschelw has recently expressed some interest in my mtt calendar for his iPhone. But since you needed a mac for it to work right, and he is on PC, I had to figure how to get it to jibe with a PC.. I was able to sort it out using Google Calendar. Not only is it possible on his iPhone now, but its also compatible on many other mobile devices as well : ) So I figure post it here and share for all who might be looking for the same.

Get a streaming customized list of tournaments on your mobile device by importing the calendars listed in the following posts that correspond to the events and locations you play into Google Calendar or iCal. It does take a little set up on your part. It's nothing too difficult, but so worth it, if you want to see whats coming up where, and if you have time to make it or not ; )

Due to posting limitations This will come in three posts. This main post with instructions, and two others with the calendar I.D.'s. One for Google Calendar(PC), and one for iCal(Mac)

PC instructions:

1) You will need to have/open a free Google Calendar account. Login or sign up.

2) Once signed in. On the main Calendar page see the "Other calendars" box in the lowish left sidebar. Click the "Add" link in lower right corner.

3) Select "Add a friend's calendar"

4) Using a calendar i.d. from the following google calendar page, copy and paste your chosen i.d. in the "Contact ID" window.

5) The tournament calendar will then appear in "Other calendar" box. Select a color that will represent the site. You can use my suggested colors, or any you choose. Repeat using the same method to add all the different i.d.'s you need. You will find tournaments separated by buy-in and type(regular, rebuy, and turbo)

6) When you have all the tournaments you want, sync your device to Google Calendar and Voila! A customized streaming tournament calendar.

I found that it took a little while for the calendar in my iPhone to display the tournaments after syncing, so a little patience might be needed here. I also had my iCal tournaments displayed too, so maybe that was the issue.. I also found that the color of some calendars shifted in the sync as well. I was doing everything via my mac, so hopefully my bugs are a product of that. Please let me know if there are similar issues on the PC side, as I did not have one available to test on.

Mac instructions:

Using iCal you will need to subscribe to the calendars of the Buy-in and type (regular, rebuy, turbo) tournaments you play in.

[/SIZE][/FONT][FONT=Verdana][SIZE=2]To subscribe: In iCal, goto Calendar(top bar)> Subscribe> then copy and paste corresponding calendar URLs from the following Mac post. Repeat as many times as necessary for you have the tournaments you are interested in following in iCal. You will now need to sync your iCal to your iPhone.

Start iTunes, and plug in your iPhone.

1) Sync iCal to your iPhone by clicking on the "Info" tab in your device window in iTunes.

2) Scroll down to the Calendar section, and select "Sync iCal. There you will see an option to click, "Selected calendars". [/SIZE][/FONT][FONT=Verdana][SIZE=2]If iCal has not been synced yet, I believe you might have to sync a first time for the imported calendars to register here.[/SIZE][/FONT]

3)Now check each of the calendars you want displayed, and Sync.

You will now have your customized streaming schedule of upcoming tournaments on your iPhone.
