  1. I was thinking about heading to AC for a few days to play some of my first live small stakes tournaments. After doing some research, I figured I'd head to the Taj and play some of their dailys. Has anyone played these before? Id like to have a sense for what they're like. Thanks
  2. The Dailys at the Taj are actually pretty decent. They run 4 tournaments a day. There are 3 $60 buyins a day along with another tournament at midnight which is pretty cool. I think it might be $100. But they structures are great compared to any other low buyin mtt at any casino imo. In the midnight madness you get a 15k starting stack with 20 min levels which is damn good. In the dailys you get 10k and 20 min blinds which is nice as well for a $60 buyin. The first tournament probably will have like 10-18 people in it and then as the day goes by the field gets bigger for the 2nd and 3rd of the day. Midnight Maddness is also a nice field for a midnight tourney. I would def go there and play for the most part but also if your willing to spend $120 for a tourney head over to the Borgata on WEDNESDAYS. They have 2 tournaments a day. One at 11am and 1 at 7pm. Both are Guarenteed Money Tournaments. So usually really ncie size fields and if they Guarentee isnt met then the casino has to add the money to the pool. But for sure on Wednesdays The borgata is where I would play. Great Value and structure. Any other days Play at the Taj if your wanting to manage a bankroll. Besides that there is no other casinos I would play tourneys at in AC unless they were having some sort of series going on. Hope this helps out
  3. Thanks, your post is a huge help

  4. borgata > taj > the field is how i see it. definitely a solid place to play. i honestly wont play any daily tournaments outside of the taj or borgata simply because the structures look so shitty. with 20 min blinds theres obviously gonna be some spewaments going on but taj is definitely worth going to if you cant afford the 3x buyins the borgata offers. the 4pm tournament is a satelite only, i think 1 in 10 receives 10x the buyin, the other times should be schedule tourney events.

edit- in terms of the actual poker, the play is obviously going to be soft for the most part. most players are fair poker players and understand how to play a hand, but have completely no understanding on how to win poker tournaments. players usually shove too light and call too nitty, thus letting themselves fold to 4 bbs before they get tens and double up vs A9 or something exactly like that. try and remember its just like playing a silly 27-45 man sng on stars (rip) and go about navigating your way through the field accordingly.

  5. I agree with Denty that Borgota is the best to play but definitely play the MIDNIGHT MADNESS tournament at the Taj while your there. One of the funnest tournaments I've played live.
  6. I wasnt saying the Taj is better. I was just saying they have decents structured tournaments for a limited bankroll and the play is much more soft at the taj then the borgata. OF course if i was choosing where I "wanted" to play it would be the Borgata hands down. Its probably my favorite place to play. There tournaments are great and thats why I suggested he play there Wed for there 2 gaurenteed tournies but unless you want to spend a minimum of $120 per tournament then you should probably play at the Taj if your wanting to spend less money. And Denty The 4pm is no longer a sattelite 1x10 style tournament, Its just a regular tournament. they changed it to 3 $60 freezeout tournaments a day and then 4th being Midnight Maddness for i think $100-120.
  7. I played the midnight tournament at the Taj and it is DEF not worth it. If you want to play 5-6 hours after midnight to final table and win about $300 than go for it. It is by far the softest tournament in Atlantic City, but it is like a 3rd world country in there compared to Borgata.
  8. Thanks for everyone's input. Today I played in the 7:15 tourney at the Taj, only 15 people and top 2 got paid. I went completely card dead for a long time, and ended up having to push <10 bb's with 7 people left at the final table only to get my A5s called by a AJs. I hit my 5 on the flop but the J on the turn did me in. The biggest difference between online and live play that i noticed was that even though the tourney had 20 min levels, you see SO many less hands every level when playing live. Still, I had a great time and feel like I could definitely money in this tourney in the near future. Looking forward to getting another chance. Again, thanks for everyone's input. It reassured me I wasn't choosing an awful game
