Obviously don't know this guy personally but this situation about him not getting refunded 3k at the WSOP is trending hard on twitter. Sounds like he really got the shaft. Can anybody tell me exactly what rule 15A is??

What's the story ?
-
He is complaining that he isn't getting a refund from the WSOP for being a no-show in a $3K WSOP Shootout event.. Apparantly the no-show rules for refunds do not apply to shooutouts and HU events. Assuming my facts are correct, don't see how he got the shaft here.

15. No Show Policy: Any Participant who has not taken a hand by the start of the third level will be considered a "no show." These Participants will have their chips removed from play and will not be eligible to participate in that event. The buy-ins for "no shows" will be removed from the prize pool and placed on safekeeping in that Participant’s name at the Main WSOP Registration cage after the second level of play. All funds placed on safekeeping due to no shows must be claimed prior to July 16th, 2012. Funds not claimed on or before that date shall be forfeited to Rio and shall not be refunded for any reason whatsoever. This rule does not apply to Shootout or Heads-Up events. Participants who "no-show" in Shootout or Heads-Up events will be blinded off with the exception of those who have pre-registered and failed to complete the registration process. Pre-registered Participants in Shootout or Heads-Up events will be picked up after level two. Participants who abuse the no show policy may be subject to exclusion from future WSOP events and all casinos of Rio’s affiliates. -
I don't know edgy the exception is for shoot outs or hu events. however it is in the rules. I think he should drink a nice tall glass of stfu.
-
According to his twitter it was food poisoning. Also, it appeared he was aware of the no-show policy, just didn't know that it didn't apply to shootouts. While it is unfortunate that he is out $3k, I don't falt Caesars for not refunding.
-
um maybe u should all read about the situation before posting. he got confirmation from multiple wsop employees before the event started that he would be refunded so he in turn didnt go down to the rio to unregister bc he was sick. now hes getting shit on. also he saw a list of players that were given a refund at "11:59am" and from what i understood they were big name players that the rules were bent for. so how about all of you drink a tall glass of shut the fuck up

OP was asking for info, I was only told the partial story, which I said assuming it is correct that he shouldn't get a refund. If he was told by valid WSOP officials (and not just dealers, but actual tournament staff or cashiers) that he would get a refund and isn't getting it, I agree with his case to get the money back.
-
I should have probably posted more info from the Tweets in the op as to avoid the confusion. My apologies. But yes, he was apparently reassured not once, but twice by officials that he would receive a refund. There are a lot of people pretty heated about the situation. Thanks for posting the rule tho.

Reason: was going to add info to op, but option to edit is gone. sorry again. -
Agree wish Swish.. After hearing Cory's side, I don't know how he should be held responsible for something that multiple WSOP employees told him. WSOP is aware that they had told him he would be refunded but still have decided that per that rule they will not be reimbursing his entry. I don't see how he is at fault here personally.
-
I was only going on what was posted. Now that sirswish has come thru to save the day may Corey should be given the refund. swish can now have Corys glass of shut the fuck up.
-
It's probably my fault he was wrong for having partial info and then speculating about that partial info. I'm fine with being less than perfect, but do apologize to Corey for making wrong assumptions and then speculating on them.
-
I'm not mad at all. judgments are made off of info given. Info initially given showed he doesn't get money back. I based it off that. If you don't understand how that works then fuck it sorry for ya. Have a great day!

really is a ridiculous situation. is quite absurd that the wsop claims they are not responsible for things that their employees say. when you call up and are told TWICE by two separate employees that you are going to get a refund, regardless if this was correct according to the rules, you should stand by your employees mistake and give the refund.
what's even more ridiculous is how childishly jack effel handles these things. he always says how he's 'willing to talk about anything to anyone' yet as soon as you say anything negative about the wsop he blocks you on twitter and refuses to acknowledge that you exist
it's a shame that the wsop is being run into the ground like it is. this is yet another blunder on the long laundry list of things that have happened this year that show the wsop doesn't care about its players and only cares about one thing: their bottom line. they'll step on anyone that tries to get in their way

if this happened to phil ivey or similar this would be an instant refund no matter what, at least do everything across the board, how they can refund some players and not others an then stand behind those decisions is ridiculous
hopefully this story will get enough attention through online media to get made right -
how about some run good karma where he goes deep and won't need the 3k refund anymore..

If two different operators assured him a refund was guaranteed, they really have no choice but to make good on it

Missed this last night. Maybe the guy will get his due after all. #fingerscrossed
