Sorry again for seems perilously like a brag post but for an amateur, qualifying for the World Poker Tour is a big deal. (I'll be brief ...)
Edited By: flintsword Oct 24th, 2011 at 11:10 PM
Yesterday I qualified for another WPT seat, this time in Prague this December.
I won a partypoker sub-qualifier $40 tourney with 50 players to bag a $400 ticket to the actual Sunday WPT Prague qualifier.
In the $400 WPT Prague Qualifier I managed to finish 1st (99 players) winning one of four $7,500 seats to the WPT Prague this December.
------------------------------------------------
My last WPT event was the WPT Paris Grand Prix 2011 where I survived 312 players to Day 3 and cashed in 25th place for 16,600 Euros.
I want to do better at the WPT Prague.
I said it last time but it remains true ... many of the posts on pocketfives improved my game so thanks to everyone that takes this forum seriously and posts informative & game-building commentary.
Part of the reason I qualify into the WPT is the information I glean from this forum, where I often just read and think about the pros & cons of the hands. Thanks! -
Congrats on the WPT package. I will actually most likely be at Prague for the WPT (and EPT) as well to cover the progress of our Pro Team. So I could also take some pictures of you and post them here or send them by email, besides that I know the partypoker / bwin bloggers

Best regards,
Christian / Poker770 -
Ha, he's done it again!
Good Luck in Prague. -
Sounds great! I am also trying to qualify online for the EPT in Prague (since I will be there anyways ...) ... I look forward to seeing you in Prague !

I was surprised to see you bubble out because you were one of the players I was keeping a really close eye on.
Qualifying & playing in these multi-hundred dollar entry-fee tournaments that attract (by definition ...) great poker players is a real treat for poker serfs like me.
Thanks for the luck ... if the field is anything like the WPT in Paris last month ... I will need it. -
gl in the wpt...see you in prague

glglglgl, ship something home.

The whole idea is to improve on my 25th place at the WPT Paris ...thanks for the encouragement

Love the idea of spending some time in Prague too, a city i know little about. That said ... the tourist thing is all very nice but I am there to play some serious poker players. After wading knee-deep in the sub-sub-qualifiers in partypoker, winning to re-wade knee deep in the sub-qualifier ... the WPT Prague qualifier was a serious event w some good players I think ... it is all worth it.
Qualifying in is the only way to go IMHO. -
Hello,
Just wanted to bump into this thread as I got back from the EPT Greece coverage late yesterday. Almost ready to go for Prague and I will most likely be staying at the hosting hotel for the WPT, so please let me know how I can recognize you at the tables for some pictures and maybe updates in our team coverage as well.
Best regards,
Christian / Poker770 -
Tall, glasses, black coat, 50+ but in good shape (all that skiing & Judo) ... my profile should have my photo

I have already spotted flintsword at the table on Day 1A and so far there are 195 players registered, he is sitting on a table with Daniel Carter from the UK and WPT Vienna 2011 winner Dmitry Gromow. Pic to come shortly!

If you look carefully, you will also notice another Pocket Fives member in the background.

GL all P5ers in there, GLGL Pius !!!!!!!! -
21,500 Chips after the end of Level 2 and his two neighbors at the table are "equally aggressive", so most of the time he rather stays out of the way ... with a smile he also said "well that's more Chips after a few hours of play than I had at Paris"

Best regards,
Christian / Poker770 -
FLINT FLINT FLINT !!!!!
GL against the Agro guys..
Thanks Christian !!!!!!! -
brief update about 13 min before the end of Level 4 with Blinds 100-200 / Ante 25 - he just had to give up a pot out of the Blinds on an Ace high River vs raise out of EP and is currently at 16k in Chips ... after the end of this level, the first 12 tables will go into a 1h dinner break and I will probably join them as well, kinda starving here lol
Edited By: poker770 Dec 1st, 2011 at 07:11 PM
I didn't catch him in the break because his table is now on a 75 min dinner break, upon checking the chip count he only has 9k left at the end of level 4

update: we have a double up in Level 5 after 15 minutes back at the tables, A-K 3bet shove and from 9k back to 20k, Blinds are at 150-300 / Ante 25 now
End of Level 5: Officially there are 207 / 231 remaining before the Blinds go up to 200-400 / Ante 50, however I believe the correct number is below 200 already and the stats were simply not updated. We will play 10 levels for sure and thus stay until 2am at least, flintsword replied with a smile on his face "Well that's what I came here for, right?" - He is now back to almost starting stack (30k), but some players already take shots due to the re-entry option on tomorrow's Day 1B and we still have 5 levels of 1h each to go for tonight ... . -
Update end of level 6: 18,050 in Chips and Blinds will now go up to 250-500 / Ante 50
Some info on how he got back to 30k in the first place - 3bet pre and flop K-J-T with Pocket Kings for top set, instead of slow playing he jammed and the opponent open mucks Pocket Queens - Queens would also become the next nightmare for him to settle down to 18k again when he 3bet preflop and check-raised the Flop A-K-x ... his opponent just called behind and he check-folded the Turn after it was obvious he was beaten
time for a double up, still 4 levels to go for tonight!
