  1. In some of the home-game's I go to, (1/2 cash and occasionally tourneys with 9-27 people) I noticed that there are a number of people, such as friends that came together and what not, take it easy on each other in some pot's. Example; checking back 2 pairs, sets, and non nut flush's. I guess what I am wondering here is, should I be getting upset when I see people doing this? It is a really friendly game and I get along with everyone, but have wanted to speak up a number of times when I see this happen. Just wanted to get some opinions from others to see if this is unethical or not.

  2. If you don't like the game, play elsewhere
If you talk up people may resent you playing there
    Just my 2 cents

Yeah the game is good and I get along with everyone.. Just frustrating to see friends take it easy on each other, when they don't do the same with me, or anyone else.

  4. I hear you, I had the same thing
I made the mistake of speaking up then they accused me of being a big head and thinking I was too good for them
I lost out of what was an enjoyable monthly game, aside from the odd pot where it was clear people were playing easy on each other
Would hate for you to have that happen too!

    Basically this I think.

  6. I play in same type of game. First few times noticed family members dumping chips to each other, not in a cheating way but a i dont want to play anymore here take these chips way. Pissed me the fuck off..Didnt come back for a few months. Realized later that i missed some of the ppl. They were fun to hang out with. Then started back and just take it as fun. Dont worry about the cash..
  7. The thing is, they may not even realise they're doing it. It could be completely subconscious as people do shy away from any type of confrontation. Could be under the radar altruism or some shit like that.

  8. I think you're better off not tapping on the glass in this case. There is absolutely no disadvantage to you if other people soft play in a ring game and very little disadvantage to it in a tournament. It's a huge advantage to you to keep bad players in both games longer and to keep them in a good mood.
  9. Agree it's not a financial concern, friendly game or not, at $200 buyin? I'm placing bottom line over ethics. If they are raising you out of hands then softening that is a different story.

I would try to capitalise on this behaviour.

For one thing, if the are checking back a lot of hands you are going to see there hands at showdown. while it won't help with betting patterns it can help with pre-flop action since they don't then know they will be soft later to their mates.

    Good luck
