  1. does anyone know how i go about doing this or where would be my best bet to get a job on the east coast?

  2. i know that you can go to dealer's school, and a lot of places will take you...also, many casinos let you 'audition' and if then you can get a job.

AC would be the obv answer for east coast casinos...or you could try some of the PA casinos like Sands or Parx or whatever...more options in ac though

  3. The rivers casino in Pittsburgh is about to start it's dealers school. If you apply online and get accepted, they put you through their 6 week program for free and give you at least a part time job upon completion. It might actually be too late to apply though, not sure. I know "classes" start in the middle of august.

But you're also from NY, doubt you'd want to come here on a random chance.

  4. Does having a felony on your record make it 100% impossible to get a job as a dealer in a casino?

  5. Felony conviction is definitely a big negative. They usually do a background check when you apply for a gaming (dealer) license. I got checked out when I applied for my dealer license in Mississippi.
  6. There is a dealer here in WV that has 3-4 DUI's. I'm sure a felony doesn't help but don't believe it to be a total kill.

DUI's aren't always felonies...depends on a lot of factors...state you're in, how drunk you were, if you hurt anyone or got any other tickets, how good your lawyer is, etc.

edit: i'm sure having a ton of DUIs or other arrests on your record will hurt your chances of working in a casino though

  9. This page has a link to a bunch of dealing schools in each state

    http://www.ildado.com/casino_dealer_schools.html

Looks like there's a few in NY and NJ that teach a few different games if you want to get in contact with them.

As far as felonies, a buddy of mine was dealing blackjack at the Showboat in AC until last year and said felonies might be ok but they are real strict with drug tests and such.
  10. So I really hate my job and one of the nearby casinos is having a Dealer Training Course the are paying for and I have been accepted. Trying to figure out if it makes sense to do it or not. I have a few questions. I know it varies but what would everyone say the average Dealer at a casino makes? Also what about benefits and the such? I know there are people who deal poker and read here daily so any help or suggestions would help.

  12. Just wanted to throw this out there ... fuck any casinodealercollege, ideal21, or any other place run by the same people. I've been to their AZ and MI locations and both are total dog shit
  13. i just started dealing at a casino in MN about 4 months ago. The pay is good depending on tips and we went to school right at the casino. It is one of the easiest jobs i have ever had and ok if you like to bull shit with ppl. Also felonies would get you fired or not hired where i work.

Im sure there are exceptions ....But for the most part no...If you have a felony you are assed out...I was a poker dealer for a long time...gl
  15. I know one thing to keep in mind that is in many states, if you are a casino dealer there are restrictions on where you can play. Dealers in Pennsylvania casinos cannot play poker in any casino in Pennsylvania. I know a lot of the dealers at mohegan sun in Wilkes-barre are always driving to AC (3 hours) to play.
