I think my friend misplayed this hand. He strongly disagrees. MP w/ JJ 76 BBs. 7600 starting stack. EP raises from 100 - 300, 2 callers. He 3 bets to 1200. Guy behind him 4 bets to 2700. Folded to him. He 5 bets AI for 7600. Guy calls with AK & turns an A. Game over. I told him he should have flatted the 2700 & played post flop poker w/ JJ. My line is the guy was not crazy who 4 bet so his range is QQ+, AK or AQs. I think his hand was either dominated or at least racing against a range that would 4 bet light like that. Is my line off or his? Thoughts?

* 1k buy in tournament at the WSOPc New Orleans this evening. -
Tournament was only running for hour and 50 minutes. All he said was the guy wasn't crazy. If that is all the info I had then I think he played it horribly as well.

Table stack sizes for all those involved in the hand are important as well imo. But usually a cold 4bet from a random is bad news for JJ.
With info given I'd have laid it down and waited for a better spot. In tourneys with decent structure, I don't think this is a situation you need to get cute in preflop. Getting 76bb's in vs. a cold 4bettor with JJ is very meh in my book. -
Cold 4bet is extremely strong. I'd be folding pre.

Good ole Johnnies. Sometimes they work sometimes not. For some it's hard to lay this down especially if you are playing live.
I take it you are early in the tourney here. I like to play relatively tight for the first couple of orbits just to get a feel for the table. I probably am folding because it's early and I really don't want to start playing from behind like now especially after the raise to 2700. Flat call and see the flop. There is no shame in folding if he shoves after the flop.
