What are yours? JK, but what are some things to look for?

hands to the face

When after the flop a person looks down at his chips.
-
Thanks satchmo. Yes this to me is the largest sign of strength I've found. He's seen whatever he was hoping far and is looking at his chips wondering how in the world can I get these in the middle the fastest!'
HOWEVER you can use this against a player too when you know you've flopped a set or what not because you don't have to fear running him off. GET VALUE NOW! -
Ya, this is pretty huge.
-
Heres one. There's been an open and a couple of callers. It comes to the guy on the butt.
He looks up, leans over and asks the table, 'how much is it to me?'.
When I first started playing, I noticed I did exactly that when being dealt AA. Then I tried to notice if any other pple did the same
thing. Sure enough they did. -
Investing in a copy of Caro's Book of Poker Tells is a great idea. Pretty quick read and provides basic tells and gives the caveats that everyone is different. As was mentioned before establish base-line behavior and see where deviation is. A tell I had that I fixed was that if I was talking to someone during a hand and looked down at a good hand I would slow down or stop my speech as I thought about what to do. Luckily this was $5 home games and my buddy pointed it out to me. Another tell I have seen is people who check their cards call or raise and then check their cards again right before the flop is flipped up. These people usually have a pocket pair and for whatever reason want the conformation that the pair is still there. If you have a friend you usually go to the casino with you may be able to help each other out. When I go with my buddies when one of us busts the tourney or cash games we usually will watch the other for at least an hour (allows you to clear your head) and try to pick up tells they may have or be giving off. We then share the tells on the ride back to the hotel or home so that we can further our game and eliminate tells

Reason: I suck at catching my mistakes until they are posted for the world to see -
Anyone who makes a point to brag about past scores-in general is a weak insecure player
-
A buddy once told me that when I was bluffing, I would tend to take a sip of whatever beverage I had in front of me. He was right, and I had no idea.
-
Im starting to play a lot more live tournaments now, and really am very unexperienced at picking up tells, or what i give off.

I know people hate on players wearing Sunnies, but seriously, this is exactly why i do in larger events. (as well as checking out hot dealers without getting busted) -
Never seen one. Unless you're referring to guys. If a girl in her mid 20s is hot she usually is not dealing cards at a liveament. If she is a dealer she's most likely in the nose-bleeds cash games in the closed quarters of the casino.
-
Sometimes people look away as they're putting their chips in when raising a bet and usually have a big hand when doing that. Its like they're trying to look uninterested in the hand when putting a lot of chips in the pot by trying to look more interested in the tv or whatever else is going on when they actually have the nuts or whatever. Another weak is strong, strong is weak type of tell.
A reverse type of tell from that example would be when someone is bluffing they'll try to stare you down and intimidate you after they put their bet or raise in hoping you just get scared and fold. After all ,if you had a big hand why would you stare down your opponent and discourage him from calling when you actually want the call.
For me those are classic and pretty reliable reads you'll pick up on weak players. -

edit: maybe 8.5 thinking about it -
The chip dive. Flop turn or river come and a player's hand goes right to their chips. Means the deck just hit them hard.

as for live tells think there overated unless ur like darren brown -
If the board comes 3 to the flush (especially on the flop) and the player looks down to check his cards and remains in the hand, he's got a decent one of that suit and will be chasing the flush.
-
I do that when I flop the nuts.......:} Works like a charm about 70% of the time. C Bets are usually bigger trying to push me off the draw.

A general read I think is pretty effective against gimp live players is the picking up of a stack of chips while checking, or making some kind of blatant aggressive-ish motion towards their chips when its their action. A huge % of the time when a bad player does this they have a hand they are trying to peel a free card with like a flush/straight draw and sometimes they are straight up about to be in da hood. Also I've always percieved the snap check as a hand that is rarely folding with marginal showdown value, esp. on the river; its prob more true online but I get the same feel live alot of times too.
