  1. Hand from Event 1 of the ISPC, $350 buyin. This is a few levels after the dinner break. Villian has only been at the table a few orbits but has shown down 88 and AK to bust two shorties AIP.

Blinds are 600/1200/100. My stack is $75k Villian is sitting on $120k.

I am in middle position and open with JJ to $2700.

    Villain raises to $6800.

I call and the flop comes down Q J 7 rainbow.

I check. Villian leads for $12k. I call.

Turn is 10. I check Villian leads for $21k.

What do you do and why?
  2. Has he ever re-raised pre-flop against a non-short stack? I know you lack info here, but you missed a check raise on the flop with your hand. Should of re raised in the range of 30k to commit yourself and if the villian is thinking, he'd notice this and lay down AK (most likely if he assumes his two overs are no good and only has 4 outs). Since you didn't, you have no idea where you're at in this hand. With that 10 on the turn, does he have you drawing? does he have KK with open ended outs? Does he have AA with 6 outs? Or does he have QQ drawing you to 1 out. This is one of those spots where you either fold and keep your 45BB for another spot, or jam turn and hope for the best.
  3. His bet of 12k into 16.4k pot does not makes sense for him to have top set on such a dry board. I also take away AA and KK for the same reasons. He wants action with those hands. 3/4ths pot on this board reeks AK to me. He wants to take down the pot right then and there with this bet size. I believe his range from that bet size is pretty polarized to middle pair like 10J, KJ, AJ or AK with what he thinks he has 10 outs with two overs and a gutterball. I love the flat on this board because I believe the only bad card for you is the ten ball. His bet of half pot on the turn indicates that he likes his hand now so the fold of the turn is completely correct. I played in this tourney as well and didnt see any light 3 bets like 10J, which is the only hand I believe you beat here. You played the hand fine and made a disciplinbe lay down on the turn. Gl in the future looneyde and also to the Midwest Connect Poker Crew in the ISPC ME going on today.

  4. First off you played the had horrible post flop. You should of either donk bet into him giving him an opportunity to 3b bluff "hoping for big overpair action" or the check raise. A lot of players tend to make moves with ak "if that's what you put him on". But as played I think I call off 20 percent of my stack on the turn and hope to boat up. You already have almost 20k in the pot and there is about 40k in the pot. And if you decide to fold on the riv you still have 66 bb's which is still pretty huge.

Because of his raise preflop I honestly don't put him on ak. I feel like if he has ak he would of 3b a lil stronger then 2.5x your bet. It's either a big hand like aa or kk possibly qq or something like aq qj.

NOTE: this is all purely on the info presented there is no info on the dynamic of the table or any reads on the player. Wish I had some more info so I could think a bit more about this hand.

This is deff a hard spot tho.

  5. i dont think anyone is 3 betting with AK that low right then. i think a fold here would be tragic, if you lose to QQ then its just ul.
i think its time to get it in on the turn
