... Made one questionable play with the Q6 other than that played pretty awesome. props! -
Congrats!!! The Pius Heinz song is catchy as well

Congrats, unbelievable accomplishment!!! Player who played the best from start to finish and deserved to win it the most came out on top.

Holy shit, I can't believe he actually won, it doesn't seem real. Obviously everybody who plays the ME thinks they can win, but it's such a huge dream and thus so surreal when somebody you know actually takes it down and you realize it's possible. Fenway introduced me to Pius right at the start of the series and we then ran into each other a few times over the course of the summer (it took me all of those times to finally start pronouncing his name correctly). He's a super nice and unassuming dude and it's so insanely awesome that he won. Congrats Pius, enjoy your success!

Discuss,
Personally im baffled at the check/raise fold on the flop when he had him 3-1 in chips. It made me lose all credibility I had for Staszko as a solid player. Would love to hear some other thoughts from the community. I just personally think there isnt 1 top 100 ranked p5s player, that takes that line.
I personally would check shove, not check raise if Im Staszko. The stacks were perfect for it! -
eh iirc I don't like the stacks that much for a c/shove but almost anything is better than what he did
he made some pretty awful plays in general, i remember a donk lead w/Qx on KQ9r flop and insta-mucking to masta's small raise, no idea what his plan was there
he even tanked for a second w/the Q9cc call, just seemed like he got into a lot of hands w/0 idea what he was doing -
I named my cat who didnt have a name for over one year now pius. And yeah still habe that pius heinz song in my ears

Here's an exclusive interview PocketFives did with Pius Heinz today, one day after his big Main Event win. I definitely wanted to post this, as there are a ton of P5s member references:

Edited By: CalBandGreat Nov 10th, 2011 at 07:24 PMAbout the Q6 hand, I think because he already led into Heinz's button raise a few times and folded the middle pair that one time, it was perfectly set up for Staszko to bet into Heinz's and then shove if he raises. Although I think heinz would have just flatted the bet with his middle pair. I know the check raise fold was terrible, but we got to see every hand and he played pretty well besides that considering all of the pressure. I know Heinz is a much better player and would never make a mistake like that, but overall I think Stasko is a good player who will keep getting better. That shove with the KQ was pretty awesome considering the circumstances.Originally Posted by funnygut

As for him tanking for a bit with the Q9, I'm sure he planned on calling the shove, but the moment was so big that he wanted to take a second to think about it. Yes it seems crazy to raise fold that hand, but I can't even imagine what playing heads up for 6 hours for $3.3 million dollars, a ton of sponsorship money and the prestige of being world champion does to someone's head. I'm sure he realized that it was an easy call, but he was probably so nervous and drained that he just wanted to make sure that he was making the right play. I know it seems impossible that a good player would ever consider folding that hand, but it is hard to understand what someone would be feeling with all that pressure.
Wow you must not even like poker if that wasn't entertaining for you. Yeah I know some of the commentary wasn't the best, but to watch those guys play for all that money and the Main Event championship while seeing the hole cards was very fun to watch. Maybe you just don't like poker, you seem miserable at the tables and if you can't enjoy watching that, maybe poker isn't for you. I'm not trying to hate, I just can't understand how a serious poker player wasn't entertained by that.Originally Posted by kevmode
Well that was boring coverage. I hate how they show every hand. I was zzzzz. during this final table and especially watching heads up.
side note: I actually regret wasting my time watching an hour of it tonight. I won't be watching the end of the head up match either, not going to put my self through any more of that horrible coverage anymore.
