  1. 4 straight final tables, and hes about to make a 5th straight in the mixed hold em.

  2. Was contemplating making an **Official Phil Ivey nuthugging** thread myself. This will suffice. #iveyfanboy
  3. LOL wow dude is so sick!!!!!! Just proves it's a game of skill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. yeah dude knows how to cbet
  5. 5 final tables in 11 days. no big deal. #isthisreallife?
  6. yeah i have heard that he is really good
  7. Fish on a heater.
  8. variance
  9. Ivey sucks, its just he has that "half asleep" look, so people bet into him when he has a monster cos they think he just wants to go to bed.

J/K The guy is pretty insane im still waiting for him to win the main event, despite the field size im sure he'll put it off.
  10. And when i did the fantasy league i picked katchalov over ivey wtf was i thinking didnt think he'd grind the wsop like he has done, the guys a beast.
  11. Not really 5 straight. He has registered and at least partially played in nearly every dam event. Def 5 in 11 days tho. Pretty much guaranteed to ship mixed hold em bracelet. Monnette asked him if he went to play plo during a break in 10k horse event. His reply, "Ya, busted. Got the mixed hold em event next tho so its all good." I'm really curious as to how many millions he has in bracelet bets to have this kind of drive and focus in all these tournys. Just unfucking real.
  12. An edge the guy has is he doesnt need to worry about busting out. He has a bankroll that would allow him to play every wsop event until after he's dead. He puts sidebets on most events he plays in that usually cover his buyins ontop of that so he has a fairly "risk free" series.

Not pulling away from his talent but it is an advantage over alot of players. I know if i play in an event for a large chunk of cash that I worry about making calls or bets I wouldnt in a lower buyin event which is why im more successful at lower stakes mtt's.

Is this really an edge for him, most regs have this comfort, if players are going to worry about these things , then theres no point being there if you going to play with scared money, phil ivey as an edge in every aspect of the game the guys on another level he's the lionel messi of poker.
  16. nah messi is overrated ivey isnt.

I dont mean playing within BR management, what I mean for example is he has zero worries. The buyin may aswell be free since its usually pre-covered from another won bet before he buys in. The guy bets big money on golf (and from what i've heard wins alot there too)

of course the buy in is nothing to ivey hes been buying into tournaments this wsop and not even playing them plus he does all kinds of prop bets but dont most of the regs do this and still he as an edge over them. ps i thought messi and ivey was a good comparison cos they both on another level, you must be watching messi's twin brother or watching a different game to me if you think messi is overrated like really guy cmon, who past and present is a more complete player than messi.
  18. I'd put R.Carlos (brazil number 5 i think) or Raul (spain cant remember number maybe 8)

Messi is great but not the greatest.

leave it out will you, raul r. carlos are not even in the same sphere, if pele, beckenbaur, klinsman, wenger, ferguson think he's the best ever and 99% of football fans think he's the best on the planet at the moment including me then im quite sure he's not overated.
  21. Seems to me best thing for Ivey was him leaving fulltilt. He seemed to have lost a little intrest in LIVE play as he was always looking to get back online and play... He seems way more focused.

SN-worked with him 16+ years ago at the telemarketing firm in Linden, NJ and played cards with him at his grandparents house in Roselle, Lived right by the dry cleaners.... if only I knew then who he woulda became I may not be be in a warehouse now....sigh

talking 16+ years ago.... he honestly seems the same today though as back then... laid back and no concern or respect for money.

I really dont have any Ivey stories except for 1 that has been my "bad beat" of sorts... we went to AC plenty of times when he played as "jerome'... then we all kinda lost touch with him as he went his own way. fast forward maybe year or year n half... Valentines day at tropicana... going for dinner walking past the poker room he comes up behind me... we start talking... and my wife/gf at the time also knew him and how he always wanted car rides etc... and figured he wanted a ride home/back to linden

anyway all he really wanted was to give me some comps for dinner... and then asked me to swing by poker room when we were done eating... so in the back of my mind was he was looking for ride back and maybe a place to stay that night... as I said it was valentines day... so never went back...

didnt see him again until I read that he won 60k or something in a tournament and he was like..."hey what happened that night... told you to swing by was gonna stake you on some table games...."...

so fast forward now... present time... married to same bitch that made me turn down getting staked by the legend and maybe being one of his horses...and not having to work in a hot ass warehouse for 28$ a damn hour.....

Marriage blows on so many levels....
  24. by the way... let me add this... 5 FT in a 11 day span when some players go years and years and never hit 1....

    He is a beast

  26. Does anyone know what the record is for most wsop final tables in a single series? I did some research and the best I could come up with is Daniel Negraeanu had 5 in 2004.

  27. There was a posting last week to indicate "10." WSOP.com I think. It might have been cashes per year, because TChan & someone else is approaching this number.

I also saw something about this on tweets from @tuckonsports &/or @bernardlee

$28 a hour is pretty good for a warehouse.
