It is right after dinner break, blinds are 400/800 with $75 ante
I have $17,000 in chips, villian has me covered but not by much.
I get dealt QQ in the big blind (2k already in the pot)
It gets folded around to the button and he makes it $2k
I raise all in and get called. He has AK
flop is J K 4 turn A river blank
Should I have smoothed pre and did a stop and go? Being able to get away from the hand with K on the flop? -
without going on and on or getting too detailed on this hand yes you 100% should have shoved imo. giving yourself a chance to add a nice chunk to your stack without showdown cant b overlooked here. i mean lets not over complicate this you have qq in the bb vs a button opener and 21ish bb, now since this isnt online i cant tell u to high 5 monitor shove but im def subconciously high fiving something in my head as i reship here...
also take it from some1 who has played a few hollywood mtt's, they get real turbo-esque late and that means you are gonna have to win some flips to get deep in this thing and qq in this spot isnt even a flip really cus you can have him crushed, or he folds so often. lol this guy coulda been the tightest player in the whole tourney and im still happy to shove in this spot w/ these stacks. just ul gg run better etc better luck next time -
Yea, you did the right thing here shoving in this spot is defiantly the most profitable play here. If you just flat how are you going to fold on a k j 4 board when his button range is so wide. If you pull a stop n go he is only calling you on a board that is beating you, so yea you did the right thing, but you didn't hold up now on to the next tournament.
