Ok so we're about 5 hands in the tournament. 3k starting stacks at 25/25 in the WSOP 1k. An older guy makes it 75 utg one flat from middle position and one flat from the button. I have QQ in the bb. What's your play and if you were to 3 bet, would you 3 bet/call or 3 bet/fold?
Thanks -
3bet-fold vs old guy ,
if we 3bet to like 450 and he just calls I cbet every flop and if its A or K high and he calls then I abandon. -
lol @ labrat...u berate old people to their face for opening 6x in a venetian and you post this hand for advice? lol lol lol lol
and if were gonna 3b fold why not just hood?
fwiw, I was in this exact spot first level of a venetian. I 3b folded and felt pretty good about it and planned on 3b folding but after I did just felt like if I was gonna 3b fold its a lot better to just flat...maybe thats a little results oriented? ha -
i like 3-bet/fold as well. Old people are generally terrible and probably flat the 3-bet way more than they should.

doubt you can hood a flop with qq lollllllllllllllllllllllllll
I think 3b/ reevaluating is pretty good, I doubt you're ever gonna get 4b and if you do its a pretty clear fold. Shitty to 3b/f in general but you lose too much value by flatting when most gimp live players are fielding the flop with near any hand they raised pre with. -
In the very first hands of a live tourney where I don't know the flaw and PPL tendency, I really play carefully, maybe too much, certainly too much for Loose aggressive player but I guess I would play this hand to setmind mostly because the only way to know is to raise fold and I would not like to 3bet 450 oop and fold for 1/6th of my stack.

Odds to hit the Q are very good if we flat and it disguise the hand very well, if a bad player hit something I feel the expected value is pretty good.
I also try to make unorthodox play when it does not cost much and on beginning of tourney to mess ppl's mind but I really don't know the structure of these 1K event, maybe we loose too much value out of our QQ.
On the other side, this is not a good/optimal strategy not to reraise given to the situation and I don't like to play that way but I feel the cons-argument can be worth it.
To reply the questions, 3 bet fold seems better, I hate the old guy utg 3x it is a premium too often of the time.
Reason: I need to learn to read
