Heading to Vegas June 26-29, originally had planned on playing a WSOP event, but got too much tied up in FTP. So, now looking at the different deepstack events and have a few questions.
First, for those that have played the 2 pm Rio deepstack ($235) how is the structure compared to a Venetian deepstack or Aria? I thought it was faster, however should I expect worse play because of it being a WSOP site? Which one do you think has the better + EV?
Second, I read somewhere, and can't seem to find it now, that the Aria noon is now a $200 tournament? Can anyone confirm this?
Finally, what are some good nighttime tournaments?
Thanks! -
Not sure about that Aria $200 but I would recommend the VDSE 340+560s. Best tournaments in town for under 1k and I dont think that is even debatable. I played the 235 Rio last week and it turns into the turbo fiddy after about the 2nd break. My buddy FT'd it and CL had 30bb if that helps. Prizepool gets huge though and ton of tragic players. GL

Thanks. Looking at the structure sheet that is what I kind of expected at the Rio, however I am curious if the lesser skill (as you said tragic) makes up for the poorer structure. The Venetian is a great structure, but usually attracts (my guess at least) a much tougher group. Others please contributue, thanks for the feedback runlikeachettah.

I played it three times last week. It is a turbo so get some chips after level 2-3. When we were nine handed we each had 9-14 BBs and there was 20% of the average stack in each pot pre. Almost always going to chop unless someone has a 2/3-1 chip lead. Lots of equity in this one especially if your push/fold game is solid.

I played in the MGM tourney twice last week, once at 11:05 a.m. and once at 6 or 7 (I forget which). Both were pretty soft. Lots of real tourists just wanting to play in the day, and in the p.m. some very obv regs for MGM who were drunk/drinking/not paying much attention to anything but their cards. I busted the p.m. tourney when shortstacked, and placed 5th in the am (set of 8s vs. club flush on river). In any event, if you have some time to kill and want a small score ($1700 for first), these hit the spot.--$80 buy in with busto rebuys.

Like everyone said, the rio has a terrible field but a pretty awful structure to go along with it. Last one I played was on Sunday, and my starting table had 6 senior citizens. When I played the Venetian 500 on Saturday, my starting table had a mix of bad and decent players. If you play the rio on the weekends be prepared to stay up late if you go deep -- it will usually run till about 5am since they push the start back to 4.

If you're only here for a weekend and you're here to play poker definately do the Venetian events. They allow for plenty of play and have a pretty bad field (probably tougher than the rio deepstack but a significantly better structure). The 1k and 1500 WSOP rio events are also crapshoots early on due to the large field and structure. The Venetian series is just excellent value.

The Aria noon is a $230 buy in, I went there thinking it was a $120 and they told me it was $230 on monday, there was about 50ish players registered.
Caesars noon tournament was getting over 700 players this past weekend for $130, and their double stack turbo gets around 300 players. -
Who has the best structure for <250? Particularly July 4-8

How was the quality of the field at Ceasars compared to Venetian or Rio? I am just looking at the best EV play here taking into account structure and field quality.
