So..... my life is gonna take a bit of a left turn for a few weeks. I've hinted about some side money and its in the works. I didn't know if I would say what it is I am doing but hey why not. I'm taking part in a clinical trial and I'll be staying in the hospital for the next 16 days being poked and prodded by cute nurses. I'm not supposed to be blogging about my procedures specifically. However, generally, I hang out in a hospital, they give me something and then check my vitals and such and see how my body reacts to it.

For the next two and a half weeks no live poker, I'll be playing a little on merge tho. When I get out I will get a check for a few thou and I'll be back to the grind. I did one of these clinical trials a few months ago and was able to pay off some debts and make some purchases that freed up my money to go back to the poker. Honestly. IMO, these things are great to pad the bankroll and give you a bit of a break from the grind. Its like a paid vacation, in which you can't go outside, and have to take scheduled meals.

I am curious because I want to look into this for myself.

unemployable: I lived the same poker vagabond life you are living for a couple of years and I loved the adventure. I bought a truck with a camper shell and put a mattress in the camper shell and used that as a 'crash pad' between poker sessions. Many poker sessions last 12 hours or much longer, and constantly renting hotel rooms is ridiculous because of check in times and check out times and the added expenses. I also was able to shower at KOA camprounds or at the Vegas community center for $2. I would suggest you buy a truck or a van and use that as a crash pad between poker sessions, and only rent hotel rooms when you run into drunken hotties who are on vacation and wanna get naughty before going back to their boring lives...

It's going well. I just checked out this morning and got a check for $3500 for two weeks. I'm actually traveling up to Chicago in two days to try and jump into another study. I am still a poker player but this is good money. A couple people I met in the study are heading up and we got a few chicks that are coming up just for the ride and the lulz.

While I was in I bought a ticket to go spend the holidays with my parents. And I bought an iphone and some clothes and I may get myself a new laptop. Spending a lot of money but I still on track to have ten to twelve grand saved by the end of the year and may be making a move to Vegas at that point.

The clinical trial was very easy money. Any questions ya'll have about that I'll answer now since I've been paid already.

What did they do to you? Can you see whats on the other side of the cards now?

I'm supremely focused on making great decisions. I have quit smoking, drinking, and 'hanging out' until I get my liferoll into something sustainable. I want to move out of the NE before the winter. My location says LA because I attempted to move out west and was there when I signed up. After BF I moved back because my safety net no longer existed. It would be ideal if I had 20k by fall but, having never had more than 10k, I'm not sure how attainable a goal that is. Vegas sounds good especially if Treasure Island still has that awesome rakeback deal I may be able to cover 100% of my expenses just off rakeback.

Now if I can continue to make good decisions and get my roll to 50k I would take half of it and get a used car, go to video editing school, buy a camera and start producing porn.... Hey, I have my dreams and ambitions too. Producing, directing, editing and distributing porn while playing poker, sign me up for that!

realpokerpro: I don't understand your point. Are you disappointed that I have been taking a guaranteed $200+ a day with free room and board instead of grinding? I'm still a poker player just making a good decision and using this to pad my roll and be able to comfortably move up in stakes quicker.

turtomic76: I appreciate your points. I'm well aware of the importance. I don't dwell on it at this moment just because I don't feel I can learn that much from the info. The conditions I play under are not what I will face playing 1/2 and 2/5 regularly nor are my current expenses any kind of reoccuring. I take no offense to your comments because you are absolutely on point. I plan to be very detailed in my stats as soon as things become routine.

So yes, while this opportunity is in front of me, I may grind some clinical trials. If it can afford me to play a laggy 1/3 game and down and buy some of the things I've wanted for a while then great. Being in a comfortable head space is where I need to be to play my best and maximize my earning potential. And thats what its all about. Cheers!

everyone: So here comes the long update... might break it up in a few posts cause I got some stories.

Also I did buy a new laptop and its beautiful. 1TB memory, 9 hr battery, 17.3 screen, beats audio. So nice. I basically spent all my study money between that, some headphones, an Iphone, Chicago trip, and plane tickets home for the holidays. Oh well, all things I was going to get eventually so getting them sooner than later is only a minor degen act.

Play the merge Sunday 15k gtd $10 buy in. It gets about 1700 runners and I finish in 26th for like $80, meh. First was like 2700.

Head to AC this past Monday afternoon for the first time in 3 weeks. Head to showboat hoping they still have the free buffet. I go by the poker room and see that the bad beat still hasn't been hit and is over $800k. They don't have the promotion anymore and I'm a life time loser at Showboat, the only casino in the world that can say that. So I decide its a better idea to play video poker since I still have 5k credits to get a diamond card, a goal of mine. If you hadn't heard the jackpot hit about 3 hours later. Everyone playing in the four rooms got $950+. Meanwhile I'm blowing money playing slots. That session I ran over $15k through that machine and lost over $500 of it. NBD.

Gf is complaining that she hasn't seen enough of me. Go back and see her and finally go watch Batman, nice.

Another promotion on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Giving out $500 every half hour between 12-8. Someone I had been splitting rooms with since last summer had a reservation at Revel (the brand new billion dollar casino). The big Air Show was this same weekend. Go to check in and Revel says "fuck your comp room you non gambling mother fuckers there's 5 million people in AC this weekend and they're willing to pay out the ass for your room so we cancelled your shit and didn't give a fuck to let you know in advance", basically. Same person who had this reservation already had another room at Trump Plaza with some people and said I could crash there.

A little more about this person. I think I mentioned this female before ITT. We used to be cool a year ago. She's a selfish hoe who always wants you to do for her but never considers doing for others even in return. We really fell out when she cock blocked me and her cousin. Not helping me is one thing, standing in my way is unexcusable. I reconnected this summer just because rooms where hard to come by. This chick is a 2/4 limit grinder, lolz, she logged 350 hours in July alone. Pker4dummies must know who I'm talking about if he's spends time in showboat. She's Trouble. She calls me her ex- best friend and is misguided in thinking we are friends now.

I say all this because we go back in Showboat and I really don't want to play 1/2 at the boat. I wander off towards the video poker, decide to play for a little bit, and send this girl a text saying where I'm at and to hit me if they call my name for $500. Forty minutes after the text is sent sure enough they call my name. Am I notified? No. She has gone to eat and said nothing to me. Also claims she never got my text. I am unaware. Come back to the poker room, she's there. I sit in a game and after an hour I have chipped up slightly. Go ask a floor I've been dealing with for years about something unrelated. He's like "congrats they called your name" " Are you fucking with me?". I wasn't tilted about missing the bad beat but this has me tilted. I 5bet shove suited AKin the BB against the most active and competent player at the table and turns out he has rockets when folded to his cut off. $600+ pot. A couple other big pots I didn't have to be in, some coolers and I'm down $600.

I'm done for the day. At least I made it to diamond status. Its about to be the last drawing of the day and this one is for $3500. The last drawing is $2500 and any unclaimed sweepstakes get added. So my $500 and someone else's was added. I didn't know that detail at the time. Here is the climax to this long story. That hooker, whore, hoe wins the $3500. Her ID is missing and she can't claim it at that time. I'm not a person to ask anyone for anything. She claimed to feel so bad that I missed my sweepstakes money until that same sweepstakes money was in her control. Bitches of the world ain't nothing but Trouble!

Lots of other things happened but that's the meat. I did play a few session of 1/1 at Bally's on other days and had decent wins each time.
