  1. $50r
    25k starting; blinds 20mins;
rebuys permitted first hour (must go bust to rebuy)
pretty sure cant rebuy before mtt starts
    25kaddon
Pretty sure its 10handed to start

So I've never played this event before (if anyone has chime in) and here's my question

Optimal strategy for rebuy hour?-considering these likely factors

ppl will prolly limp call like crazy early
you can essentially do nothing and enter 2nd hour @~60bb deep

my thoughts are try and see cheap flops at level 1and2 and play as approp on the flop
and on levle 3 if u havent doubled, just start jamming over limpers

Then in the second hour and beyond?

    antes seem only marginally significant
most players are gonna still be limping a lot; loose/passive (and without a clue)for first couple of levels
if we've been jamming alot and esp if we've shown down lite when called our image will be good

How do you play 50 75 and 100k stacks differently going into levels 4-7?

It's also worth noting that this mtt is played while seated around a completely electronic and automated poker table. No live dealer, real chips or cards.

Reason: forgot about the automated tables
  2. how do you play 50k stack at 4/800? Raise/Iso a lot IP, take down pots post b/c fish limp call then fold to cbets.

that or just nit it up till you have 20 bbs at like level 7 or somethin n just shove shove shove
  3. yeah true. I was just thrown off a bit by the weird antes.

  4. ha for some reason i couldn't see the ante section before but now I do, ha, that is weird as shit tbh
  5. these tournies have lots of limpers that call any raise and they def fold to c-bets with ease one difference is that u are playn with an auto dealer [more hands per hour] seems so gay but fk it,ive been playn tons of these local gigs and i like repping myself as a wild raiser guy early on when blinds are young ,it allows me to usually build my roll and when the blinds get bigger [most of these mtt's they grow quick] i will tone it down a lil bit, but when i raise they assume i'm just continuing on with what they see as wild play but than they realize i have the goods ,bink a big pot than i can afford to pick off the blinds with more ease, these players are really horrid,i will be at the turlock poker room tonight if any1 around say hi i will be wearing a black and grey beanie cap un shaven face with shades on or on top of my head.............gl op

  6. yeah i know how bad players play and that's why i was asking for advice, esp considering the antes are so small.

Like I'm not really looking to build huge multiway pots and then have to cbet into 2-3 players.

Guessing I'll just need to spend an orbit or so seeing how ppl adjust post rebuy hour and play accordingly

Only reason I made this post is b/c antes are so small and I just wasn't sure how big of a consideration that should be with respect to my opening ranges

  7. if the ante is 1/3rd of the sb, you should play very aggro.

    usually antes are around 1/4th

yours are 1/10th so that means you wont have to steal that much to stay alive , however, since this is a live 50R i woudl recommend a very aggro approach and min raising a ton of hands , especially in position. Most guys at that level will never play back at you and will NOT be correctly 3bet shoving you light with stacks of 12-20b. If they do 3bet shove you, fold they have a great hand. Even if u are opening 50% of hands, they are still waiting for premiums to shove.

  8. thanks fou. This makes sense and how I will be playing.

One more thing-i just spoke to poker room. You can rebuy anytime in first hour as long as you are at or below starting stack.

I'm assuming that most ppl, if anyone, will not double rebuy to start the tournament. Would you wait and see how many ppl rebuy right away before doing so? how many ppl would you wanna see take the extra rebuy before you do?

Problem with not taking it is once I go over 25k can't take it.

Any merit in just taking the single buy in and playing like a COMPLETE maniac, prolly going bust or doubling and then just taking the double rebuy if I bust and then kinda nitting it up for the remainder of the rebuy hour figuring I can go into level 4 with ~75k at 400/800?

Looking for some suggestions on how to attack the rebuy hour.

  9. i'd snap double rebuy at the start
  10. snap double rebuy right away and then play TIGHT AGGRESSIVE , solid ABC poker.

in the rebuy, while people are playing loose and fast you keep it tight. wait for good spots and dont be afraid to get your money in when you find good spots.

I would want to play tight during the rebuy period to accumulate a tight image. Once rebuys are over, people might tighten up a bit while you open up a bit. The deeper you get into the tourney, the tighter they will play and the looser you will play.

glgl let us konw how it went

also, alot of people (including some of the best players out there) like to have a goal of certain stack by a certain time. I have never thought like this... i just try to maximize EV every hand.

i double rebuy n play like a fish from the get go, meaning i flat every suited hand n chase everything to the river!
