If you have the option go to school. If you are making 7 figures a year I think it would be ok to drop out of school. There is a great unknown on the number and quality of the games 5 years from now.

The entire cities of Reno and Laughlin generally have very small games. Furthermore if you spend your entire life playing poker on your death bed you might not be proud of the life you chose. That being said poker money may give you the option to chose the career you want.

I think that's besides the point, it's a very good article about how people who ARE in school AND play poker can manage both at the same time and be happy with it. Very good article.

Another good thing about going to school and playing poker is that you can use that financial aid a lot of us get to buy into the Main Event! Yeah right...seriously though everyone should consider staying in school unless they feel like they can consistently make 60k or more playing poker. I have just started grad school and have been doing the whole poker and school thing for 5 years and have been very succsessful at both.

But if you had to choose between researching in a lab (minimal travel) or playing cards (guaranteed circumnavigation) which would you choose?

fantastic article, keep it up! I will def bookmark this

great article :)

i dont think dropping out of school either way is a good idea. poker, like most things, is a trend. as players get better and better it will become a more and more difficult game. counting on poker as a lifetime income is unrealistic.

Great article,

I find myself in the exact same situation. Still I don't wanna quit school. And then there is also the obvious situation of the parents... I can see there faces already: 'mom, dad, i quit school to play poker professionally!'

Hmm, no thanks :)

So thank you for the great article.

Thanks guys, Diesel, i think that Dee pretty much answered the question, obviously traveling and playing poker would be a fun life, but my point is that its not realistic for most people. However, going to school while playing poker is.

Great articcle. There is something to be said for an education. Playing poker is a tough life full of ups and downs. When u have that degree it open your options up alot but like i said great article.

Great Article it can be applied to poker and work or life in general. I went to school, work and have a family before I discovered poker. So, balancing your priorities never ends. Instead of poker or studying for exam I think about poker or doing thinks with the family. Same logic would apply. Again great article.

People from U of A are dumb.

Do not leave college to play poker. There is no greater concentration of hot pussy than in colleges. Maybe the Playboy mansion, but they don't have an admissions department that will accept you. God damn you youngsters.
