  1. The final quote is completely ignorant. How can you even assign a %? wtfru?

  2. Um, call me naive but I don't see the DOJ bending over backwards to help some rich dude buy a business that they believe to be a global ponzi scheme.
  3. A Glimmer is a Glimmer. glgl All

  4. let's hope for the best!
  5. i am very optimistic, this guy has the credentials to turn this around, get everyone paid out, and really even to rebrand FTP and get it off the ground again

I'll call you naive because you clearly don't understand how politics work.

  9. well at least this is some positive news...
  10. agreed kongs!
  11. He's trying to take money from the doj/fed gov't. I know they usually don't like that. Dude is trying to find a cheaper way to buy the company, not spew more off in payments/bribes.

Lets add he is accused of fixing a soccer game. I really doubt paying off old customers is one of his first thoughts. Not to make all u FTP customers mad but stop getting your hopes up so quick to every stupid story.

It's been nothing but rumors and speculation for nearly six months and finally we get a concrete investor who is negotiating with the DOJ and you would call this just another stupid story?

No matter how it pans out this is clearly the best news I've heard post-BF since pokerstars announced we could w/d our funds.

  14. This is great news. I am sure the feds have noticed the financial impact of Black Friday on the US economy. If the investor can successfully negotiate with the DOJ it may help lay the groundwork for regulation to happen more quickly.
  15. Agreed, best news since BF...
  16. it's certainly better than nothing.

  17. mmmmoooooneeeeysssss!!!!!!

Of course it is. There is no way the investment is profitable if they don't pay out the players. I'm sure his goal is to make money. Your claim has no logic behind it
  20. Yep paying player is not an option, it is an obligation otherwise they will be no credibility to support the new management. If they reopen the site and not plan to pay the players, who will trust them to deposit $ to gamble, who ??
If I get screwed somewhere, BE SURE I will never take any risk again.
I do believe that if they pay back, the site will run as before, Tapie's family is known overhere, even if they maid mistake or applied strange method sometimes, they did what a few have done in term of putting back a company on their feet and we have to be happy they are interested in FTP, at least I am.

it's so tilting how ppl don't understand this. His number one priority is figuring out a way to get the site running again and in the process spewing as little of his own money as possible. It has been speculated that one of the reasons that the gaming commission pulled FTPs license is because of the irresponsible manner in which they handled deposits and repayment of their former customers.

Therefore, he knows he has to settle this issue to continue. So right now he's trying to negotiate a way that allows him to pay everyone back and in the process spew as little of his own money as possible. That means getting the DOJ to pony up on the money they ceased, as well as eliminate or negotiate the terms of the fines/civil suit levied against FTP.

No one knows at all if the DOJ is willing to compromise. Personally, its hard to see what's in it for them. I'm guessing, they believe the money was ceased lawfully as part of a criminal procedure. I guess I see it more likely that they would waive, drop, reduce the amt of the fine, considering that is/was the responsibility of the former owners.

But one thing is for sure-if the deal isn't sweet enough, he'll walk away. He's a businessman first and foremost.

Grinder, you got it right but the random PPL, the one that is financing the sites (somebody tell me if I am wrong..) does not go that deep in the reasoning, IMO if the sites pay without problem they go for it, that is it (with a strong marketing behind obv).
I and I guess most of the P5ers, do believe that what is behind is more important, FTP is a perfect example and blaming someone else than their (old) management is out of sense. Once someone begin to play with fire, a day or another ...

Nowadays, the appearance, the image is sadly far more powerful than the inside (conciseness and awareness) but one day, the account have to be settled.
  26. Anyone want to buy some Enron or old GM stock? What part of BANKRUPT don't you guys understand? FTP players will be fortunate to get $0.10 cents on the dollar when the smoke clears and the legal fees are paid. Deal with it!

Still not getting excited over best news. And then comparing them to Pokerstars news which was 5 months ago. I have money in FTP also but i just wrote it off. Still wont be excited when next story comes out.

where is the profit in paying players back that cant even be customers anymore? And my claim has no logic
  28. Who is going to play there if they dont pay players back?
