  2. I think I need more analises like that, I seek alternative solutions versus what is ofen called standard and happyly read knowlageable players to explain the logicks, I think Phil Hellmuth had samwhat simiular hand on main event when he called guy an idiot x number of times :D.

  3. The manner in which the villain played his hand is classic, 'get to the riv as cheaply as possible with this hand because it really could be a winner.' This is even more apparent the villain checked the turn. Additionally, at a 7-handed table, middle to mid-high pairs like 66-99 become even more valuable holdings but he's not going to bet in the face of a Queen turn. All this means, yes he was probably wary of getting barreled off his hand and, at best, would have check-called to riv if facing average-sized bets.Something else to consider: Though the villain might be unknown, unless he's an absolute knucklehead, you have to gather that he's competent enough to understand his hand strength relative to table size, able to check/call-float a flop bet with a top 10-15% holding, and is able to get himself to the river cheaply, if possible, with those holdings. So betting the 157k on the flop is likely to get floated by any half-decent player. And since Andres had no history with this player, is in a final 2-table situation, and sits comfortably in 5th place, shutting down and preserving his stack is the probably most prudent thing to do.
  4. Why not considering flatting pre-flop as an option; keeps in a big range and your hand flops well (lots of nut draws) you can represent a lot of ugly flops (e.g. 457) by flatting pre - with back door equity to a good pair kick if he is being stubborn

I didn't considered it "at the moment". Of course it's a valid option, I just didn't put much weight on it when the hand happened.

  6. I like three betting for value a little too much there to flat, but I certainly wouldn't fault someone for flatting there occasionally.

  7. Awesome in depth analysis. We should not expect less from these two monsters!!.... Guys any reason why we cannot convert this hand? I tried it in a few places but to no avail... Will like to see stacks a bit more clearly etc...Thanks for doing this ... this is awesome. I think I woulda played the hand pretty much the same way as andressoprano did, maybe betting larger on the flop and checking with the intention of folding to action from the turn on. Thanks again
  8. I haven't found a way to convert hands from Merge, sorry but can't help with that.

  9. 106,525; 118,775; 216,225; c/f. If you are going to bet this flop you have to barrel the turn Q..

  10. aerpostale bro? shit you must be loaded bro
  11. I'm not the player you guys are, but I think this is a no-shell or two-shell hand. If he had Jx or tt/99/77, then the queen is horrible for him, it strengthens our range.. (of course if he floated with qts/q9s)... I would expect a competent high-level villain to float this flop a ton... He can bet any spade, ten, nine and expect to win a lot.So against floaty-agg-regs, their range will have enough weak hands in it which will now fold... And I don't expect to get doubled floated that often this deep in a tournament by any but the most crafty tricky LAG.Pre? Well I tend to bet bigger OOP, esp if he defends 3bs a lot - he is simply making a bigger error calling us... If he 4 bets a lot, I like smaller. Do we know?Lastly, if he is a random, I expect a) him to play straightforwardly against us, and b) not want to bust here by making hero calls.A view from the fish-pond.

  12. Yeah I agree the two best options are checking or double barrelling. I don't like c-bet/give up on turn. That's the conclusion Andres and I came to. I usually end up double barrelling here but I think checking is a much better option than I first realized, as Andres made a very good argument for his line.

  14. Vs. this villain this deep in a big tourny i think doubling turn will show a big profit... very few nutted hands in his range... I think he folds most of the above described hands preflop but if he does call a hand like AJ.. theres a strong possibility hes folding on the turn in this big of a tourny this deep.... and I think hes pretty much always folding worse than AJ. Good analysis overall nice article.

  15. I couldnt read responses iin detail I am on my iphone but i read te article. With just 50bbs to start you are going to cripple yourself if you double barrel and it doesn't work. What about a bigger 3 bet to say 128k? This should make him more honest post flop and it probably alarms him and he might fold pre or turn all his pairs into strictly set mining hands and plan to fold to your cbet. I'm either 3 betting bigger or flatting sometimes personally.

  18. Hi mate,I have a hand that I think is quite similar except I had KK and I checked turn/lead river but he raised my bet on the river! obviously the hand is different as every spot is unique but it would cool if you and your friends could provide a "wax poetic" analysis of the hand :) where should I post it? I have it on ready for pasting from my HEMThanksSteve

  19. Now that we can see he had 99 and would prob. fold to bet on turn it's easy to say 2 Barrell..... The ICM in this hand is huge and poonaniboy could just as easilly have AJ, KJ, 10J , QJ, 888, 444???? IDK what's really in his range (that you can get him off of) when he flats 3 bet pre then flats flop bet,, because to me you are def. behind...HE is NOT floating...
