Sounds like a big conflict of interest from various people. State by state method is going to be highly problematic. Why not just do it on a federal level to save a high degree of hassle. Poker needs to stop being looked at in the same light as roulette, blackjack etc.
What I don't understand is how they can think online poker would have an adverse effect on land based casinos. If anything, online poker promotes poker in general, and it's more likely players would also play live as well as online.
A complete bunch of BS if you ask me!! -
^ agreed, bunch of BS. they dont give a fuck about the players (this should only be the issue), just the $$$.and this.."We must set aside a portion of revenues to reduce the social costs of problem gambling. GD idiot imo. its that kinda of shit thats going to make this all a complete sack of crap. if they are already worried about that facet of internet gambling (how huge it must be) then we are all just fucked lol. i mean whats next? a player suing another player for a huge cash pot lost? i mean come on. the ppl that have a problem with "gambling" have an underlying issue in the first place. whats the money set aside good for anyways? a 12 step program? if they arent gambling their money away on poker., then they will find something else to. if by setting aside money they mean using it for professional medical help with a doctor then im all for it i guess, but that will be the day.

How will it be regulated in Puerto Rico as a commonwealth, territorry, "Estado Libre Asociado" or whatever they wanna call it? PR is not a State. Does PR have to wait till it is done at the federal level? End colonialism now!

It should be on a Federal level. That is so stupid that some people want to play in some states but can't. So you live in Kentucky. Nope, sorry our state voted against it. You can't play. Where is the rights of the American citizen? Bunch of b.s. I live in Missouri. Well, for some reason players from Missouri can't sign up with Merge right now. I still hope something gets passed. I don't think I am ready to move outside of the country yet. But if Missouri is one that says I can't play, I will move out of the state.

As retarded as it is that these politicians don't see that they need to just regulate it nationwide and enjoy the revenue, at least if it is on a state by state basis we can move to different states and stay relatively close to our families etc, as opposed to being forced to leave the country if we want to continue playing.
