So I had just sat down at the casino last night when this hand came up. UTG+1 with a $100 stack open limps, I raise it up to $10 with AA, with a stack of $130. The action folds back round to the limper who then re-raises to $20. So I couldn't be happier sitting there with my AA facing a guy who obviously loves his hand, so I just shoved it in fully expecting a call, fairly simple decision on my part.
This hand got me thinking later though about what a tricky spot it could be if I wasnt holding pretty much exactly AA. So my question is, what would you do in my spot if you were holding say 1010-QQ, or AK? And if u just make the smooth call preflop, then what flops are you willing to go broke on? Do you commit with AK on a flop of AQJ? What about JJ on a flop of 234? or even 33Q?
I had no info on this guy, I don't think we had even played a pot together before this hand as the table had only been open for about 15mins. But as far as the 1/2 players at this casino go in general, they aren't capable of making too many moves, and generally just play their own cards. -
lol pushing 11- more fairly simple decision lol.. ok.. why again shove 110 more when u can reriase him and commit him on most flop ll.

If I have one of those hands(1010-QQ or AK) and someone re raises me all in and I've only put in 20 bucks I'm folding in general people live only shove with AA or KK. Thats why I love re-raising pre flop with them. I hate playing AK or 1010 OOP, which is why I'll limp in early position and re raise when its raised by some goof on the button. It gives me a lot of credit for a monster hand and will either win the pot pre flop or get it heads up with someone and I can take it down with a good continuation bet. I've had to learn to fold if no one raises me pre flop since with 6 people in I'll rarely have the best hand even with AA.

I didnt want to re-raise and then an ace high flop comes down and he can now get away from his big pair. Or for all low cards to come and now he can get away from his AK. And while you guys might realise that I obviously have a huge hand here, the vast majority of players there wouldn't, I'm happy with my shove. Anyway, thats not even the point of the post, if you choose to reply, in future try answering the question tards.</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

lol, i don't think these guys realise how we do it at sky city bro.
your shove is a-ok i think, i had a guy do this to me in the 200/400 game with QQ and there was no way he was laying it down pre. i think i'm set mining with 10's in that game rather than trying to raise, and JJ is just a bitch to play. i'd probably bin the JJ pre flop as this limp-raise means a big pair for sure, unless it's one of the crazy dudes like bob or one of the asian guys.
i find it's 100% read dependant up there, you can figure out how ppl play within a few orbits and then play the person more than anything else. haven't seen anyone switch gears really, they either loose or tight and don't change.
on a positive i'm up nearly $900 from the $2/$5 game over the last two days, which is good cause i suck at cash. i'll be back up there again for sure, catch you there.
i had a guy open shove utg in the 2/5 game for $150, and a snap caller from middle position. i had 10 10 and after thinking about it just threw it away. i showed chris as i folded, and he's like you're mad there's no way i'd fold that here. utg had K7s and caller had 55. i think value your hands way more than online there, unless it's one of the few tight guys.
