Hey everyone. I have a quick question. Should i be 2 tabling at 40BBs or play 1 table at 80BBs. I like to play a little short stack because if I go all in I'll be more likely to be called. Also if i get bad beated with AA or KK I won't lose as much. Also if i 2 table I get more Full Tilt points. I only play cash for Iron man status and its tokens. But i'm thinking of just one tabling since I'm playing more "potential hands" with position ie. suited connectors, low pocket pairs, etc. etc. I dunno just gathering thoughts from you guys.

What kind of question is this. Seems like you already made up your mind. gl

You have found a big fundamental question in the difference between cash and tournament play. I have recently committed myself to learning these differences and IMO the answer is that you should have as much money on the table at any given time as you can COMFORTABLY play with. Because the blinds don't move the pot odds give way to the implied odds more often than in tournaments, so when ever you sit at the table you should be buying in for the max and if your not comfortable with that much on the table you should be playing lower stakes.
Your not going to catch the opportunity to stack someone as often in a cash game because they are not forced to play. You need to be able to take full advantage when you do. If your playing well then in the long run the big bad beats will give way to the big pots that youll win. You should study cash games before you buy in they are much different than tournaments.
--- edit--- fwiw if your at a table where everyone has less than the max buy in your max buy in can drop to what ever the biggest stack is and still allow you to take full advantage of the implied odds. But when given the opportunity to sit at a table with more BB's in play its normally your best choice. -
HUH, what you talkin bout willis?

if you aren't rolled for two tables of 80 BBs, than you aren't rolled for one table at 80 BBs -
Right but it seems like I get bad beated more when I have a bigger stack. Usually aa kk vs an under pair or suited connectors. Stuff like that.

you have to relearn how to play and value your hands, aa kk arent as strong in cash games pre flop because more people are playing implied odds and you will see more people playing post flop. AA and KK go down in value against multiple opponents. If you pick up Harrington's new cash game books what your saying is his first example. A friend of his is one of the best online tournament players in the world was playing cash game with him and got it all in with AK and actually had the fourth best hand on the flop. remember that all of your drawing hands go way up because of implied odds.

So i should call more raises with Ace suited and suited connectors??? Yea usually my bad beats is heads up underpair hits their set against my AA/KK :(

you should def look at your post flop play and control the size of the pot, figure out how the hand ranges are different and remember if they are putting money in the middle there is a reason, try to figure out what that is. The value of suited connectors and set mining goes up the deeper the stacks are, so yes your going to need to learn to read the board and play those hands. Its pretty hard to win someones stack with just one pair, most likely you'll just win a few small hands and then lose a big one. remember also that position is super important.
