Hey i was wondering which sng is more profitable the 9 man sngs or the 10 man sngs? Any input would be appreciated.

the 10 persons are more profitable....obv.
i play $30 sng's and the 10 pers. pays out $150 as compared to the $135 (1st place) on stars and FTP....that extra $15 is a half a buy in....pretty big deal -
There is certainly more to it though.
You have to look at the blind structures on each site, starting stacks, competition, etc. to see which would be better.
Some people prefer stars 9 man sng's simply due to the blind structure. Full Tilt is also 9 man, but with a different structure. party and UB are 10 man sngs but also have different structures. Gotta take it all in to consideration -
yeah i understand that man but it also seems u would be alble to money at a higher rate with only 9 peeps. seems it might keep u from getting 4th as much. Mainly what i was wanting to know was if the loss of a money in the 9 mans makes up for it in the long run u know since u wont be getting 4th as much.

I play Bodog and UB exclusively because they have 10-man sng's. 9-man games aren't worth it to me.
Tim Lock -
Structures, as stated before, are very important. However, if you are a solid player who makes the money quite frequently, then I don't believe you'll see much of a difference between the two. You'll money in 10's less, but make more when you do. You'll money in 9's slightly more often, but make less when you do. Now, if you come in 1st every time you play a SnG (like Tim Lock does, apparently), then yes, playing the 10 man SnG's would yield a higher benefit. Besides that rare and most likely fictional situation, I believe the expectation of the two would be quite similar.
Good luck to you! -
I don't think anyone can answer this with a blanket statement. All you can do is play a reasonable number of SNGs in various formats, then look at your results. Even in Tim Lock's case, where he plays the 10-man because he finds them more profitable...that's still just his case, based on how he plays. I know what my numbers are, so I can answer for me...that from a straight ROI perspective, I also do better in the 10-mans, but stars and FTP SNGs fill up faster, so I have a better long-term expectation playing their 9-mans because I can play more of them in a night. Since I don't know how you play, Red, I can't answer the question.
As with many many things in poker, you can't just ask "is A or B better?" and expect a straightforward answer. -
i also find the idea that 10 mans are more profitable because they have bigger prizes laughable. with that thinking why wouldn't you just enter multi table tournaments exclusively?
-
This is just a guess based on experience:
If you are a LAG player, 10 mans are best because you accumulate chips for the top prize more often.
If you are tight and go 3rd/4th a lot, try the 9 mans, because you will make the money more often.
