hi, ive read the threads here for a while but im a first time poster...
my ? is ive depoisted 100 dollars on FT and have been playing $5 SnG's mostly and played a few MTT. know most ppl are goin to say im playin out of my BR but that is a stake im comfortable at. Ive been doing ok up and down im sitting with about 120 basically have my initial deposite and 20 of my redeemd bonus. seems like i run good for a day and bad the nest mostly just running into coin flips and being on the wrong side. my question is what the best way to build a roll. Is playing the $4.40 SnG's for a the $26 dollar tourney tokens and trying to grind cashes from those a good idea and keepin my roll steady or increasing by playing the $5 and lower SnG's... any + feedback would be helpful thank you. -
if you are comfortable with it then yes take a shot or two. but mainly just stick with the $5 sng's until you get your bankroll built up a little.

First, I would ask a few questions of you:
1. What is your experience level? How long have you been playing poker and poker online? The two are mutually exclusive of one another. Someone who has played poker for a while but is new online may have a learning curve no different from a total noob.
2. What games do you really enjoy playing or have your best results?
That being said, play the $1-3 buyin sngs, and grind it to at least $175 or so before you sit down and play the $5 sngs. As for the up and down swings, it sounds like you are fairly new and have to work on being consistent. Something that we all must learn. Other then that, keep playing. GL -
you could try grinding the 3.30 90 man KOs. That would give you 36 buyins and the bounties would protect your roll a bit....
-
agree on the 3.30 90 man KOs. free money if you are competent. swingy, real swingy, but the level of play is so soft that you should be able to build fairly steadily esp. with the knockouts limiting your variance a bit.

3$ turbo sngs, 5$ sngs (18, 27,45), and also stay away from cash games trying to recover what was lost! 3-5$ mtts, 3r (a shot, maybe put 12$ into it) and if youre doing well in the 5$ sngs, try a 10$ once in a blue moon to keep it interesting.

1. ive been playing for 3-4 years 1-2 online. im always trying to change my game and improve when ever i can.
2. low buy in SnGs are what i like since they are what i can aford, im tryin to build up my roll to play higher buy in SnG's ($20) and have enough for the swings for playin for MTT
ty for all the advice so far -
3$ ko's on FT are easy, ive got like a 250% roi on them
-
If you play $5 sngs make sure you have stop loss for yourself.
You can go on a $100 downswing real easy even at that level. -
^^^ I had played almost 4k sngs and didn't believe that to be possible... That being said I am on a $250 downwing playing $6.50 18 mans on stars... never thought it would happen to me... Sad part is I went down $250 then back up $200 and dropped $200 again.. so bad.. Cant win a 70/30 with like less then 6 people left.. a bunch of 4th place finishes.. ugh..
-
thats nasty,.... try playing a different game for a bit to get the rythm back. maybe a 45 man instead or a single table, etc.
-
yeah..well...here is my advice...
1. Download Bodog
2. Play 4.40 beginner SNG's....they pay out top 5..til you get to 200.
3. Play 8.80 beginner SNG's....they pay out top 5..til you get to 400.
4. Play 16.6 beginner SNG's....they pay out top 5..til you get to 700.
5. Play 33.0 beginner SNG's....they pay out top 5..til you get to 1200.
This should take you 30-60 days depending on volume.(you can only 3 table Bodog.)
Keep playing these to sustain roll while you take mtt shots at the 10 and 20 buck level.
Its a can't miss proposal if you got patience. -
Obv dump it in a 100$ 4 man HU and instatriple up your roll; in my opinion.
