I posted this on another site and was ripped by the few that answered for limping utg w/67s. Please read my reasoning to it before you come to a conclusion. On to the hand...
Even though I won the hand, I would like to know if I played it right or how I could have played them better.
It's only the 6th hand, so I have no real reads on the players. I sat at this table b/c the avg pot was low relative to the number of plrs/flop. I think it was like $1/58%. Also, the stacks were not very deep. No pf raises in any of the hands I saw. All this info tells me that there's a lot of pre-flop limping, but not a lot of pre-flop raising.
Poker stars $0.05/$0.10 No Limit Hold'em - 6 players
BTN: $4.20
SB: $4.50
BB: $4.30
Hero (UTG): $7.95
MP: $6.90
CO: $5.85
Pre Flop: ($0.15) Hero is UTG with 7
6
Hero calls $0.10, MP calls $0.10, CO calls $0.10, BTN calls $0.10, SB calls $0.05, BB checks
I called b/c as I stated above, did not think there was a lot of pf raising. Also, limping encourages more limping. If raised, I may call if small and hope to hit big and stack off.
Flop: ($0.60) 9
J
3
(6 players)
SB checks, BB bets $0.10, Hero calls $0.10, MP calls $0.10, CO folds, BTN folds, SB folds
I'm not gonna fold here. I'm getting 7-1 odds to hit my flush. But raising here (I think) would be pointless, as this flop is right in the wheelhouse of most limpers' range. About 0% FE on this board w/ 6 players. Also, I wasn't sure if I was drawing live. There were still 4 more people to act, and I wanted to see what they'd do. Hence, the flat call.
Turn: ($0.90) T
(3 players)
BB bets $0.10, Hero calls $0.10, MP raises to $0.50, BB calls $0.40, Hero calls $0.40
Again, not gonna fold to this min bet. 10-1 odds. But also not gonna raise on a 9TJ board. I did not think BB had a flush draw. When MP raises, now I "know" I'm drawing live. Play so far smells like a pair+str8 draw, 2 pair, made str8, maybe set for both of them. Getting 5-1 odds, I call.
River: ($2.40) K
(3 players)
BB bets $0.10, Hero raises to $0.50, MP calls $0.50, BB calls $0.40
BB only betting 10c now confirms he didn't have the flush. Now how do I get more money?? I put MP and BB on a 2 pair type hand. Maybe a queen. I did not want to bet too much here. I was thinking $1, but I think this would have been too much for MP to call w/2 pair or set. He may even fold a queen. Same w/BB. So I only raised to 50c cuz I thought this would be small enough for MP to call with 2 pair/ queen and hoping BB would get such big odds he can't pass up the overcall.
What do you all think?
p.s. After thinking about this hand and reading the other posts, I do agree I shoulda made a much bigger bet on the river. How much do you think? -
IMnot even going to read the hand. Once I saw you only had 7.95 instead of a full buy in I stopped.
Ok I kept reading. Just call river. -
I bought in for full amount at another table. Then lost some by playing bad, so I switched tables. And I don't know why, but I hate rebuying for full amount. For some reason I have to rebuy for the amount I had at the other table, which was $7. It actually helps me forget about the previous table.

to help you get started, never open limp in 6 max. a good rule of thumb people use a lot is "either fold or raise" in 6 max. this isn't always 100% accurate, but it's for the most part correct. always buy in full in cash games. as for your question, you played the suited connectors for what reason here? to hit a straight or flush. you hit it, it's 10nl, call. as played, raise flop, bet turn, bet river. this is an open fold utg at 10nl. this is basically an auto fold in all positions asides from button if you are a beginning cash player. before you divuldge in 6 max cash, read some articles. a good place to look for advice is poker trix. just goolgle it because im not sure i can post a link here..really helpful for beginning micro stakes cash players. 10nl is so easily beatble playing abc poker. there's no reason to get tricky at those levels.

$0.02/$0.05 is even easier. ABC poker, that's all you need.
My bankroll hit $3 after a string of $4.40 bustos, so I took it to $0.02/$0.05 and grinded back up to about $25. Then I took it to $0.05/$0.10 and took it up to around $100. -
Raise preflop, C-Bet flop.....I hate open limping, especially 6-max.
-
Also, always rebuy to a full stack.
-
PS and FTP both have auto top off options, so it will automatically reload to 100 BBs after every hand.
preflop, UTG open fold, suited connectors will make you money in multi-way limped pots when you have position. limping UTG and UTG +1 is just going to put you in a lot more speculative spots out of position. If you are in later position , either cut off or button, you can limp behind a few limpers with 6-7, or you can open for a raise if no one has entered the pot yet.
flop / turn standard, with those odds you have to call.. raising either is a spew i believe.
river $2.40 in the pot, he leads for .10, i'd raise to... $1.50, around there. 50 cents is too little, 2 dollars is probably too much to get a call with how this hand played. -
didn't read the thread, but holy welcome back batman.
long time no see for this guy.
let's get it on in OT -
open limping is a mortal sin at 2+2. I assume thats where you posted. I think it was played really bad myself. I would have to agree with the flaming you got on the other sight.
